High Flow 3inch Intake Y-Pipe Kit. Porsche 996TT / 996GT2. DesignTek

Code: 3603500004

DesignTek® revisited the 996 Turbo to see how we could make more bolt on performance. Opening up the air flow of the intercooler pipe system is one way we achieved this on the 997TT. So DesignTek® set out to build a OEM replacement 3inch Y-Pipe that would work with the stock intercooler fittings and throttle body. To begin the process, we got one of our customers modified 996 TT to the shop. This car was already equipped with upgraded turbos and all the trimmings to go along with it. What it did have is stock GT2 intercoolers and a stock throttle body and plenum. The development process was simple… Build a product that would retain the stock air box, flow better, use OEM parts, and look the part! The manufactures started to make the product on the car using 6061 aluminum and basically building each piece on the vehicle. Once completed, we had a finished part that was then powder coated and ready for testing. Since there was no additional length added to the system compared to stock, we decided not to pressure drop test the system because of the complexity. Pressure drop is usually a concern on cars such as the STI when you go from the factory top mount intercooler to a front mount intercooler adding feet of intercooler piping. Based upon the dyno results, the cars spool did not change.

Using a Mustang all wheel drive dyno, this car came to us with a tank of 91 octane and low boost set at 1.2bar. With fans moving fresh air to the intercoolers, we did a baseline on the car and achieved a starting point of 493whp and 477ft/lbs of torque. Leaving the car strapped to the dyno, we removed the stock Y-Pipe and bolted on the fresh red DesignTek® upgrade connecting to the F-Hose. The new Y-Pipe gets rid of 70% of the stock boost hose length and reduces the bend by about 45 degrees for a straight shot to the intercooler. For those running stock style intercoolers, a reducing coupler is supplied with a shorter fitting to clip into the intercooler end. For those customers wanting maximum efficiency, we supply a 3inch piece of aluminum and a coupler to be welded to aftermarket end tanks. With everything secured in place, we fired up the car to give it a run with the new Y-Pipe. With absolutely NO changes to the cars configuration, the Y-Pipe added 21whp and 24ft/lbs of torque to the car. This was quite an impressive bolt on gain that also added style and potential scalable performance to the car.

This part fits all 2001-2005 Porsche 996 Turbo, X50, and GT2.

Aluminum Intake Plenum High Flow Y Pipe. Porsche 996 Turbo/S/X50/ GT2

Code: 96500

This very unique and extreme modification was a joint venturebetween BBI Autosport and Innovative Pro Design. The “Push Through Y Pipe” was a completely collaborative effort from initial prototype to final production. Countless design changes (both internally and externally) backed with extensive dyno and track testing have yielded the ultimate performance upgrade for the 996 Turbo customer looking to transform their Turbos from mild to wild.

The IPD 996 Turbo “Push Through Y Pipe” was designed for the hardcore Turbo enthusiast looking for substantial power and speed improvements. This “Y Pipe” requires the larger 74mm IPD Plenum (Part #96274) and throttle body (although an even larger 82mm application is available).

The unique cast design has many advantages over other hand fabricated versions being one piece (no welds), allowing for improved and smoother transitions, optimized flow and diversion shaped areas (that cannot be accomplished with fabricated pipes) all functioning together to create improved and greater boost response, especially when running larger turbo.

This design flows incredible quantities of air at very high velocity for extremely modified Turbos developing 600 to 1000+ horsepower at the wheels. The IPD “Push Through Y Pipe” works best when complimented with larger turbos, intercoolers and aggressive software. This “Push Through Y Pipe” can help Turbos build massive horsepower capable of physics defying performance.

This set up utilizes a pressurized MAF sensor versus a conventional “draw through” sensor. This allows 996 Turbos to run a twin air filter set up creating shorter and more efficient paths that feed the turbos.

An additional 4 bungs are also cast into the Y Pipe allowing customers the ability to drill and tap for added accessories such as methanol injection, boost gauges, etc.

For customers demanding the absolute most from the 996 Turbo we offer an even larger “Push Through Y Pipe” package that employs the 997 Turbo intake manifolds allowing for the larger 82mm 997 Turbo. IPD Plenum (Part #97282) and upgraded 997 GT3 82mm throttle body. (Additional throttle body purchase required)

The CNC machining of a single aluminum cast piece creates an improved visual appeal typically found on OE components. These “Y” Pipes can also be special ordered (for additional minimal charge) in custom powder coated colors and ceramic dispersement coatings or polished to customize your Turbo engine compartment.

Installation of the “Push Through” Y Pipe is relatively straight forward but IPD strongly recommends installation be performed by a highly qualified Porsche technician.

Race Plenum and Throttle Body. Porsche 996 Turbo 01-05 - DesignTek

Code: 3603500001

DesignTek has just given Porsche 996TT owners another way to get an easy 20 bolt-on horsepower with this new BIG MOUTH plenum and throttle body kit. DesignTek set out to engineer and design a plenum that was functional, did not require additional tuning, and simply... made power! The plenum is 6061 aluminum that retains the same shape as the factory T Pipe. The reason to keep a standard T shape is that the engine works off of pulses. Just like how Porsche designed, DesignTek kept this design and simply improved the restriction, the throttle body. The factory throttle body inlet size is 76mm that then jumps up to a 78mm ID plastic plenum. DesignTek has chosen to use a 78mm Cayenne Turbo throttle body which bolts on and fits to the stock Y Pipe. The plenum now keeps a 78mm ID throughout the system. The T shape plenum features all the necessary vacuum and breather hose ports as stock for a true bolt on application. Each plenum features a CNC machined throttle body flange that includes the necessary recessed gasket for a sealed fit. The complete T plenum is TIG welded and then powdercoated gloss black inside and out for a smooth and stealth finish.

As tested on a 2001 Porsche 996 Turbo, this plenum achieved an impressive gain throughout the entire powerband with a peak gain of 20whp and 20ft/lbs of torque. Based upon the dyno graph, the power increase began at the dyno test start of 2500rpm and pulled all the way to the finish of 6500rpm. This kit includes both the plenum and Porsche OEM throttle body to be used on all Porsche 996 Turbo, X50, or GT2 from 2001-2005.

Aluminum Intake Plenum. Porsche 996 X51 IPD

Code: 96174-X

The 996 did not mark the beginning of a new Porsche chapter, it marked the beginning of a new Porsche book. The prolific 911 was baptized and emerged water cooled, leaving the legendary air cooled engine to live in Porsche history.

The total and complete redesign of the 911 engine was fitted with the vintage plastic "T" style air distributor that Porsche has used since the early 911 days. This intake system was found on virtually all 911 Carrera's until the arrival of the DFI cars in 2009.

The unique, innovative and patented design of the IPD Plenum employs a "Y" design that improves performance by channeling air left and right to the cylinder banks more efficiently. This design reduces air flow turbulence and increases air flow velocity resulting in substantial power gains throughout the entire rpm band.

The IPD plenum not only delivers impressive power and torque increases but also creates a more linear power and torque band. Tiptronic customers even claim considerable improvements with more positive shifting after installing the IPD Plenums.

The 996 3.6L X51 package was typically found on the "40th Anniversary" limited edition cars (MY 2004) but could also be special ordered by performance minded customers. The X51 engine package increased horsepower from the standard 316 up to 345.

The X51 Carrera's came equipped with a variety performance upgrades, both internally and externally, that made the cars very desirable for Porsche drivers looking for something closer to the GT3 experience.

The X51 engine package was blessed with many wonderful internal performance upgrades but Porsche still utilized the factory air distributor opening the door for the IPD Plenum to provide even more additional power.

The 996 X51 IPD Plenum is designed to use all the pre-existing factory hardware and OE 74mm throttle body. The revolutionary design of the IPD "Y" style Intake Plenum increase horsepower by 24 and torque by 22 (at the wheels).

The X51 Plenum is a direct bolt on replacement and installation is relatively straight forward for mechanically inclined DIY customers although IPD strongly recommends all Plenum installations be performed by a trained and qualified Porsche technician.
