Scavenging and aeration in the oil pan have been identified as a problem in 996/997 and Boxster models experiencing high G-forces on fast road and the race track. The oil pan spacer kit provides a simple solution. This spacer increases sump capacity by half a quart, providing more reserve to ward off starvation.Although Porsches are extremely handy on road and track and also prove themselves extremely reliable, they are by no means bullet proof. There have been several reported cases of cars (especially those equipped with suspension upgrades and track day tyres) experiencing oil starvation and oil surge in steady state high G cornering situations.The extension works by increasing the amount of oil in the sump (by approx. 1.5 litres), lowering the oil pick up and increasing the baffling.Installation: For best results internal baffle passages should be modified. Billet Aluminum Hard-Anodized Magnetic Drain Plug & Washer for Porsche 911, Boxster, and Cayman Modelsbillet aluminum hard-anodized magnetic drain plug is CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and has a large 3/8” rare-earth magnet to reduce iron (Fe) levels in oil, which is a primary source for wear in your engine, with up to 14 lbs. of pull. The other main reason to use a magnetic drain plug, especially in the M96 engine, is because of the potential for IMS (intermediate shaft) failures. The ferrous foreign object debris generated by a failing IMS bearing will be caught by the magnet, allowing for earlier detection of critical engine problems before they happen. Due to customer feedback, we are proud to offer a new version, redesigned for 2012, which due to its recessed magnet, is much easier to clean.If you've ever changed your oil yourself, you've probably encountered a stripped drain plug or had to fight with getting one out. What makes this drain plug different from the rest is its hard anodized surface and its over-sized 10mm internal hex. It is designed to last for years, unlike the original drain plug’s hex which is easily stripped and almost needs to be replaced after every use. Drain plug uses M18x1.5mm thread pitch and replaces Porsche part no 900 219 009 30.Uses O.E. sealing ring Porsche part number 900 123 106 30 (two rings are included with retail purchase only). Billet aluminum IMS to crankshaft chain guide / tensioner, replacement for Porsche part no. 99610516554 or 99610516555, to help prevent catastrophic engine failures like this. Shown in the image a comparison of our billet tensioner paddle compared to the cast factory tensioner. Billet construction provides a significantly stronger and more durable product while utilizing OE Porsche wear pad and pressure pin (both of which are included as shown).Update: We've found the factory plastic pressure pin to not be strong enough, so we've made a billet steel pressure pin against which the chain tensioner actuates to tension the crankshaft to IMS drive chain. This is a return to a style of pressure pin found in very early examples of the M96 engine.If you choose not to upgrade to this item when your engine is apart, please at least purchase a new one from Porsche rather than re-using the old one, even if it looks fine! If you track your car, it's a pretty cheap item to not have to loose sleep over. Yes, we offer a heat treated, shot-peened chromoly oil pump hex drive to replace the inferior, non-heat treated mild-steel factory pump drive on the M96 and M97 engine, which has known to fail, shearing in two, resulting in a catastrophic loss of oil pressure. Don't let this happen to you! (shown in the image)The oil pump drive is located off the intermediate shaft on the opposite side that hold the ball bearing and mates to the oil pump console, located on the front of the engine. We applaud Porsche's use of a canister to reduce waste and be environmentally conscious, but due to feedback from many of the shops and technicians we serve, we now offers our full-flow spin-on oil filter adapter, allowing for use of a conventional spin-on oil filter, rather than requiring the use of expensive and inferior replacement cartridge-style filters.This makes changing your oil a much simpler task. No longer do you have to handle changing out the cartridge, worry about contamination of the oil filter housing, depositing lint or transfer from whatever rag or paper is used to wipe out the housing, or thinking you have cross threaded the cheap plastic filter housing since they don't fit all that well. (a complaint we hear often!) Our spin-on oil filter adapter makes oil changes easy again!The Spin-On Oil filter adapter also helps improve the longevity of your engine by providing full flow filtration, which means 100% of the oil gets filtered without having oil bypass the filter (as the factory filter housing allows for). If you were to have a failure where the filter did fill up with debris leading to starvation, if you had a bypass that same debris would have caused further damage to the engine, still requiring an overhaul. Drive Belt for Under Drive Pully cars WITH Aircon. Porsche 996/ Boxster 986/997What size serpentine belt to run when using an under drive pulley?The stock serpentine belt length for a 986 Porsche Boxster or Porsche 996 with air conditioning is 2115mm Porsche part # 996 102 151 64. If you remove the air conditioning but keep the stock drive pulley you will need a new serpentine belt that is 1930mm in length. If you then decide to add an underdrive pulley in the range of 4.25 to 5 inches in diameter you will need a belt 1905mm in length.
