Porsche's new DFI (Direct Fuel Injection) intake is a totally and completely redesigned intake system developed to deliver improved performance, fuel consumption and emissions by optimizing the air fuel mixture directly inside the combustion chamber.

The IPD 987.2 Boxster "Competition" Plenum was designed to meet the needs of the most demanding Boxster S enthusiasts. The "Competition" Plenums is internally larger and specifically designed to utilized the larger 82mm 997 GT3 throttle body. This new 987.2 Competition Plenum follows in the foot steps of the very successful 987.1 Competition Plenum, which has proven itself to be the absolute single best performance mod that can be installed on any 987.1. The combination of the patented IPD "Y" designed Plenum and Porsche's largest TB yield great performance gains that can be seen and felt throughout the entire power band.

The "Competition" version was designed and developed to work with Boxster S's equipped with high quality high-flow aftermarket cat-back exhausts. The addition of headers and high-flow cats will only further compliment the dramatic increases with intake air flow delivered by the IPD Plenum.

Performance gains take place throughout both horsepower and torque curves but are most realized through the mid-range and well into peak power range. DesignTek Air Induction systems for the Porsche Cayman S. Engineered utilizing state of the art CAD CAM 3D modeling, CNC machining, computer controlled Superflow air flow testing, rotational molding, injection molding and countless man hours, these systems represent the apex of air induction technologies. All of our systems install in the factory location and utilize the OEM “ram air” fresh air ducts for lower air intake temperatures and added power. Additionally, our systems also incorporate a custom cotton air filter and a 6” injection molded Venturi that acts as a vacuum for cold-air. All these components work together to create the most powerful Porsche air intake systems on the market today. This system adds 6-8 HP/TQ.

Improving throttle response, horsepower, torque, and engine sound, the cold air intake for the Porsche Boxster is your answer to a better driving experience. Tested for air flow and MAF voltage readings, DesignTek has developed a check engine light free intake that is able to add performance to the Porsche Boxster. The all aluminum intake tube retains the factory diameter including our CNC machined 6061 aluminum MAF housing. Fitting up to the stock intake hose with no hassles, the filter then is secured behind our heat shield. The heat shield is built to separate the filter and the motor to keep the incoming air flow from the side intake duct a true Cold Air experience. The heat shield fits snuggly in place of the factory box and is made from light weight aluminum. The shield includes adjustable brackets which fit to the stock location.

As tested on a Boxster S using a Mustang all wheel drive dyno, the intake made a very respectable 5-7 wheel horsepower gain from 4000 to 6000 rpm with a peak increase of 2 wheel horsepower. The intake improved torque between 6-8 ft/lbs at the wheels from start to about 6000 rpm with a peak increase of 7ft/lbs. With a drive train loss of 15%, the intake will give your Boxster approximately a 9.2 crank horsepower gain.

The intakes include a K&N high flow cone air filter which is reusable for the life of the vehicle. The intakes come finished in a black powder coat.
