How To Check What Thickness of Wheel Spacer You Can Use

In the diagram, you can see how we recommend that you measure the available space which you have in order to bring your alloy wheel and tyre in line with your mudguard. In normal use, you would want to ensure that your wheel and tyre is in line with your mudguard, i.e. that your wheels and tyres do not stick out further than the widest point of your mudguard.

howtocheck

Most alloy wheel spacers are available in 3mm/5mm/7mm/15mm/18mm shims (spacers with no studs), Wheel Spacers With Studs for Porsche are available in 15mm/18mm/21mm/23mm/28mm/32mm/35mm/43mm/52mm/65mm/75mm thickness.

There the two different types of spacers shims which take wheel “bolts” and spacers with studs which take wheel “nuts”. Porsche models up to 1997, like 993/964/944/928 models were all fitted with hubs which had studs coming out of the huds. The wheels were secured with wheel “nuts”, the newer models from 1998 onwards like Porsche Boxster and Porsche 996 / Porsche 997 all have wheel “bolts” holding the wheels on.
