Porsche Re-Opens Renovated Nardò Test Facility.

Originally built by Fiat in 1975, the Nardò Ring was acquired in 2012 by Porsche, who renamed it the Nardò technical centre. This testing facility is 7.8 miles long and 52 feet in width, located north-west of a town called… Nardò.

The track is angled in such a way that cars driven on it will not need to turn their steering wheels, even at high speeds. Porsche closed the centre for renovation towards the end of 2018, its doors are now open to test the latest and greatest designs that Porsche have to offer.

Not only did it take 7 months, but it also cost a lofty investment of 35 million Euros. The entire tack has been asphalted and a new guard rail system has been installed.

The test facility will not just focus on speed, it will be a proving ground for new automotive development such as electric vehicles and autonomous driving.
