Introducing the new Porsche Cayman GT4, with a delightful ‘718’ added to its name. When Porsche gave it’s mid-engineered two-seater a facelift and threw in a controversial four-cylinder turbo engine adding 718 to the name is to pay homage to a classic four-pot Porsche of the past. In this instance, the turbo engine has been removed from the GT4. Inside of this new model you could find a 4.0-litre, 8,000rpm, 414bhp flat-six. One can only assume that the noise it makes is nothing short of glorious!

It tops the previous GT4’s power by 35bhp, probably not needed but always welcome! Torque stays the same and top speed has increased 5mph to 186mph. One change that an environmentally minded GT4 owner might appreciate… It makes use of a larger exhaust filter, it also has the ability to shut down a bank of cylinders when you are cruising.

Rather impressively Porsche has managed to achieve a 50% increase in downforce. This has been achieved by using split exhaust which opens space up for a more effective rear diffuser, keeping the car hunkered on the ground. Also, design changes have been made to the rear wing to magic up some more downforce
