The bracket was designed to utilize OEM bolt patterns and requires no alteration or relocation of any engine parts to be fitted. Made from 6061-Tx aircraft grade aluminum the bracket mounts to factory machined surface points on the aluminum engine block for a precision fit.<\/p>\n<p>A V3 model Vortech Engineering supercharger unit was chosen after consultation with Vortech engineers and matching the engine\u2019s volumetric efficiency with supercharger compressor maps. The V3 unit contains helical-cut gears for super quite performance \u2013 virtually silent with the engine compartment lid closed. The V3 supercharger has a 20psi and 1000cfm maximum capacity and is an over-engineered part for this Porsche application which is geared to produce a conservative 6psi in the engine\u2019s intake manifold.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Porsche Super Charger \" src=\"http:\/\/www.design911.com\/uploads\/images\/product\/turbo_charger\/VF470lr.jpg\" alt=\"Porsche Super Charger \" width=\"550\" height=\"365\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The fastidious design of the supercharger bracket, positions the belt driven supercharger to maintain use of the OEM spring loaded belt tensioner. The serpentine belt routing was designed to maintain the correct rotation of all the accessories and maintain optimal pulley wrap for maximum friction.<br \/>\nThe Vortech air to water intercooler (charge cooler) was integrated into the tight fit engine bay as means of reducing charged induction (boost) temperatures. Lower charge temperatures promote engine safety by reducing knock and improving the quality of the combustion cycle. Air charge (boost) from the supercharger is directed through the chargecooler core before entering the throttle body. The cooler core contains isolated channels circulating with water from a separate self contained system cooled by its own radiator. VF-Engineering integrated a Porsche OEM front radiator and front bumper vents into the kit. Water is circulated by means of an added OEM Bosch water pump through OEM Good Year water lines. Intake air temperatures in the manifold were measured to be approx 140 deg F even with \u2018spirited\u2019 driving at 118 deg F ambient temperatures in Arizona desert conditions mid-Summer. This dramatic drop in charge temperature helps the 997 create consistent power. For added safety the chargecooler is designed to perform continuously whilst the ignition is on.<br \/>\nWith all major components in place, the head of R&amp;D at VF-Engineering set about shaping the air ducts from the filter to the throttle body. The intake pipe is specially tuned for its air flow characteristics and pressure relief system. Production pipes are manufactured from a lightweight molded high temperature polymer. The thermal insulating properties of the plastic pipes prevent heat transfer into the cooled charged air traveling inside them.<br \/>\nEngine management software was by written by VF with extensive testing performed on independent test cars. Multiple factors such as charge air temperatures, ignition timing, fuel trims, maps and injector performance were taken into account. The Carrera 2 and 4 test vehicles were extensively dynoed on the VF 4WD Mustang and monitored for wide band air fuel ratios at load levels often greater than would be experienced on the road. They are also all 100% bolt-on.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>I currently have a 996 2001 C4 3.4l , do you offer fitting and setting up services related to this part, or can you point me in the direction of anyone who fits and sets these up? I assume you have to check the car out before fitting to make sure it\u2019s capable of handling this upgrade, my car has covered 131k but has full extensive Porsche history.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>we can arrange to fit the supercharger,\u00a0 fitting time is about a day\u2019s work the price also includes the re-map which we need to program into your ECU, so the ECU will need to be sent to the USA we would need your car for the best part of a week.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>We cannot check it your engine will take the extra power as the super charger kit products we are fitting are external to the engine, they are a bolt on to the existing engine power &amp; performance<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>with regards to the check of the engine, I understand you could not give any guarantees that a engine won\u2019t let go with the extra power, but I assume plenty of testing has been done to ensure this kit is safe to use with the 996, but my worries relate to the common fails on 996 I hear of the IMS failure and I believe there\u2019s another bearing seal that can go, would the extra HP put extra pressure on these, is there any mileage in having these inspected whilst the cars with you, and if need be replaced? or does the supercharger bear no resemblance to any additional wear on these parts. My car has covered 131k but has full extensive Porsche history.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Since the release of the Porsche superchargers 6-7 years ago, we have not experienced any catastrophic engine failures. We conduct 1000&#8217;s of miles of real-world testing in the desert, high elevation, and on the dyno to ensure our hardware, and more importantly, our custom tuning is more than reliable and well-within the tolerances of the motor. The 6.0psi we choose to run on our system is considered to be very conservative.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>As for the Intermediate main seal and Rear main seal Porsche factory issues, if the motor was prone to either occurring, it would occur no matter if the car was modified or not. We recommend to all our customers to have their routine maintenance up-to-date before installing our systems, but besides that, there are no extra requirements. We&#8217;ve had customers with as high as 145k miles on their cars before installing 1 of our systems and they experienced no issues. If your customer has had extensive Porsche history on his car and he is up-to-date with their recommendations, he should not expect any issues with upgrading his car with our supercharger.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>How will we get OBD2 port electronic flash or remaps to make the product work? Or are you including a USB programming cables and PC software.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Currently, we include our Hex Flash OBDII USB cable for the E9x M3 superchargers to remotely do a full-readout of the car, send the readout to us, then we reply within 24hrs with our custom VF performance file. We can supply the cable for the E46 M3\u2019s at special request and additional charges. This same capability will soon be available to most of our other supercharger systems, and will be included in the price of the kit. For now, ECUs are sent to us for bench flashing and it takes 2-3 days for us to complete. We time the notification of sending the ECU in order to coordinate including the completed ECU with the rest of the client\u2019s supercharger shipment.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you have some detailed fitting instructions with the products range?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>All of our supercharger systems and mounts include details instructions with pictures and arrows for each step. For our Authorized dealers\/installers, we are readily available for consultation during an installation.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>I have a Porsche 997 3.8L Tiptronic. Do you have any information, will the gearbox take the extra power, is there anything we should know as this is a Tiptronic model ? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Both the Tiptronic and 6-spd have no issues with our super chargers and we have done several tiptronics in the past.
