Whether he\u2019s flying around a track, cruising the B-roads, or organising one of the UK\u2019s most loved air-cooled meets, Guy \u2013 known on Instagram as <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/askgeez\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"525\" data-end=\"570\">@askgeez<\/a> \u2013 is one of those owners who makes the Porsche community feel like home. His weapon of choice? I remember lying in bed, listening to him come home late at night, hearing that flat-six echo down the road. I used to draw 911s on my schoolbooks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1136\" data-end=\"1311\">Then came the moment that sealed his fate \u2013 his stepsister\u2019s boyfriend owned a 964 Turbo with the number plate \u2018TUR 80\u2019. \u201cThat car was so cool \u2013 I was hooked from that point on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1313\" data-end=\"1534\">Fast forward to today, and that obsession has matured into a full-blown lifestyle. Based on the 991.1 platform, the RS went even further than the already potent GT3, with wider arches, a more aggressive aero package, and the 4.0-litre engine that many consider to be one of the greatest naturally aspirated flat-sixes ever built.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2427\" data-end=\"2727\">It was the first GT3 RS to feature a PDK-only setup \u2013 controversial to some purists, but lightning-quick on both road and track. Porsche also gave it trick rear-wheel steering, a magnesium roof to lower centre of gravity, and optional PCCB brakes for those serious about shaving tenths off lap times.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2729\" data-end=\"2854\">The GT3 RS was, and still is, a car designed to be used. Not babied. Not just garaged. And that\u2019s exactly how Guy treats his.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2861\" data-end=\"2897\">The 991 GT3 RS &#8211; \u201cIt\u2019s Built to Drive \u2013 So I Do.\u201d<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2899\" data-end=\"3188\">Guy\u2019s RS isn\u2019t just a Sunday showpiece. It\u2019s racked up more miles in his first year of ownership than it had in the previous seven. \u201cI don\u2019t buy cars to hide them away,\u201d he says. \u201cYou\u2019ve paid the money, you\u2019re paying the insurance, you might as well enjoy it. Otherwise, what\u2019s the point?\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3190\" data-end=\"3456\">From spirited runs on Essex backroads to proper use on track, the GT3 RS lives the life it was built for. \u201cObviously it\u2019s fast \u2013 that goes without saying \u2013 but the way it makes you feel is what really matters. Every time I drive it, it puts a huge smile on my face.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3458\" data-end=\"3679\">When he first bought the car, it went straight to Max Protect for full PPF protection. Alongside mates James Velcott (@911_spy) and Andy Bowers (@friedeggt3), he co-founded <em data-start=\"3908\" data-end=\"3930\">Porsches by the Lake<\/em> \u2013 a laid-back gathering that\u2019s grown steadily over the past four years.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4016\" data-end=\"4234\">But that\u2019s just one of many events in his calendar. \u201cThis weekend I\u2019m off to Simply Porsche, next weekend is <em data-start=\"4125\" data-end=\"4143\">Wheels &amp; Watches<\/em> with Design911,\u201d he says. \u201cIt\u2019s a bit of a joke really how many I go to \u2013 but I love it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4236\" data-end=\"4491\">What keeps him coming back? \u201cThe people. That\u2019s the truth. The Porsche scene is incredibly welcoming. Doesn\u2019t matter if you\u2019ve got a Boxster or a Carrera GT \u2013 everyone\u2019s in it for the same reason. It\u2019s about the love for the brand, the shared experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"4498\" data-end=\"4536\">A Longstanding Design911 Customer<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"4538\" data-end=\"4721\">Guy\u2019s relationship with Design911 goes back to the early days. \u201cI remember your first unit at Fairlop Waters. Back then I had a Boxster and used to come in for bits and accessories.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4723\" data-end=\"4935\">His more recent build \u2013 a 1979 Targa in need of full restoration \u2013 saw Design911 supply nearly everything. \u201cThe bloke doing the work had this huge stack of Design911 invoices. I stopped counting after a while!\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4937\" data-end=\"5170\">And like many Porsche owners, the classifieds still tempt him. \u201cThere\u2019s always a 992 Touring winking at me\u2026 but then I look at the RS, at the photos, and I remember what made me fall in love with it.
