<\/p>\nYou don\u2019t often come across garages like Sports Vehicle Performance Ltd anymore. No gimmicks. No fluff. Just straight-talking expertise, plenty of experience, and a real knack for keeping Porsches running right.<\/p>\n
Tucked away in Worcestershire, Sports Vehicle Performance Ltd \u00a0is run by a small team of four. Three of them? Family. And the fourth might as well be. It\u2019s not a big outfit, but that\u2019s exactly the point. What they lack in size, they more than make up for in know-how.<\/p>\n
It all started with Debbie. She began working in top-flight motorsport when she was just 18, diving straight in with Tom Walkinshaw Racing. Le Mans, touring cars, all of it. From there, she moved through the ranks \u2014 F1, the Mitsubishi World Rally Team \u2014 travelling the world, wrenching on serious machines.<\/p>\n
\u201cI loved it,\u201d she says. \u201cBut when the kids came along, the idea of another winter away testing for Williams didn\u2019t feel right anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n
So she took a punt. A mate in Finland needed someone to help run a few ex-factory rally cars. It gave him the reason she needed to step back from life on the road.<\/p>\n

Back in the UK, it was time to figure out what came next. Debbie rented a unit. Nothing flash \u2014 just a shed, really \u2014 and got to work with four axle stands and a jack. He put a few ads up on eBay offering Porsche services and waited to see what would happen.<\/p>\n
Turns out, quite a bit.<\/p>\n
Work started to come in fast, mostly from Porsche owners who wanted someone who understood the cars \u2014 not just from a mechanical point of view, but from having seen them pushed to their limits on track and stage.<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t actually want to do race cars anymore,\u201d Debbie says. \u201cBut they just kept showing up.\u201d<\/p>\n
Since then, SVP has built over 30 race-ready Boxsters and Caymans, mostly 986s and 987s. These days, though, they\u2019re just as likely to be working on a 996 or a 997 that\u2019s getting a new lease of life. Servicing, suspension, upgrades \u2014 you name it.<\/p>\n

SVP Porsche isn\u2019t just Debbie anymore. His sons, Tom and Sam, are now right in the thick of it. Tom\u2019s 25. Sam\u2019s 21. Both have been around fast cars their whole lives.<\/p>\n
\u201cTom used to come into the pitlane at F1 races when he was a toddler,\u201d Debbie laughs. \u201cHe thought it was normal.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sam ended up in the workshop full-time when Covid shut schools. He never looked back. He\u2019s even got his own 987 project on the go \u2014 wrapped in bright green, of course. It\u2019s got one of SVP\u2019s diffs in it and is slowly being fettled into something properly sorted.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019ve grown up with this stuff,\u201d Debbie says. \u201cIt\u2019s second nature.\u201d<\/p>\n
That family dynamic shows in the way the place runs. It\u2019s laid-back but efficient. No big egos, just people who like doing a job properly and looking after customers the way they\u2019d want to be looked after.<\/p>\n

SVP Porsche\u2019s reputation has been built on honesty. If your car needs tyres in six months, they\u2019ll tell you now. If your brakes are looking ropey, you\u2019ll know about it before it becomes a problem.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t want people coming here once,\u201d Debbie says. \u201cWe want them to keep coming back. If we lose someone, we\u2019ve done something wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n
That approach has taken them further than you might expect. One customer rang from Australia about a 997 Turbo he\u2019d spotted in the UK. He wanted to buy it, drive around Europe for a few months, and then ship it home.<\/p>\n
SVP Porsche gave it a full inspection \u2014 cost him \u00a3400 \u2014 and saved him a world of pain. \u201cThe car was rubbish,\u201d Debbie says. \u201cWould\u2019ve been an expensive mistake.\u201d<\/p>\n
They\u2019ve seen it all: shiny paint and blown engines, tidy service books hiding worn-out suspension. Debbie’s advice? Forget the mileage and look at condition. Some of the best cars she\u2019s seen have had serious miles \u2014 but they\u2019ve been properly looked after. And that counts for way more than a polished bonnet.<\/p>\n

A lot of SVP Porsche\u2019s customers today are the same people who grew up dreaming of a 996 or a 997. Now they\u2019ve got one \u2014 and they want to look after it.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re seeing more people come in wanting to invest in their car. Not just service and go \u2014 they want to upgrade the suspension, sort the brakes, get it driving the way it should,\u201d Debbie says.<\/p>\n
The garage sees a mix of cars these days. The core is 986, 996, and 997 stuff \u2014 but there are still some older models floating about. One car they\u2019ve looked after for 15 years is actually the first-ever right-hand-drive 911 SC. Proper bit of history, that one.<\/p>\n
Even the modern models show up. Cayennes, Macans\u2026 though less often. As Debbie puts it, \u201cThey don\u2019t get used as much. People bring them out for a local show, but they\u2019re not seeing the miles.\u201d<\/p>\n

Customers get the right bits. The garage doesn\u2019t get cluttered. Everyone wins.<\/p>\n Even though SVP Porsche\u2019s usually booked up four or five weeks ahead, they always try to keep a bit of breathing room. If you\u2019ve got a problem and need help fast, there\u2019s a good chance they\u2019ll find a way to squeeze you in.<\/p>\n \u201cWe don\u2019t stack the diary full,\u201d Debbie says. \u201cStuff happens. People need things sorted. We\u2019ll move jobs around if we can.\u201d<\/p>\n The garage even has a little coffee station for anyone dropping off their car. If you want to hang around for a quick job \u2014 brakes, inspection, that sort of thing \u2014 you\u2019re welcome to. It\u2019s not a showroom. It\u2019s a workshop. But it\u2019s one with a kettle and no attitude.<\/p>\n SVP Porsche might not be on a high street or sitting under a neon sign, but it doesn\u2019t need to be. The cars \u2014 and the people \u2014 speak for themselves.<\/p>\n It\u2019s a place that\u2019s built on real-world experience and a proper understanding of what Porsche ownership means.
