<\/code>TGE joins the team for Pork Life Episode 9 to share the stories behind his Porsche collection, the reality of owning a hugely valuable Carrera GT and the long road to bringing his Irish Green 912 back to life. Known for his honest approach to cars, TGE does not pretend that every ownership experience is perfect. He talks openly about finance, maintenance, rising values and the strange pressure that comes with driving a car worth enough to change your life. At the same time, he makes it clear that cars are there to be enjoyed.<\/p>\n

TGE\u2019s route from business to the automotive world<\/h2>\n

Before the supercars and YouTube videos, TGE studied law and considered a career in criminal law. He later moved into banking, but his entrepreneurial mindset had already started to take shape.<\/p>\n

One early idea involved sending anonymous messages written on potatoes or bricks. It was unusual, but people bought them. That willingness to spot an opportunity continued with LDN Muscle, the digital fitness business he launched with his brother in 2012.<\/p>\n

By embracing social media early and selling downloadable fitness plans, the business reached customers worldwide. That experience helped build the audience and commercial understanding that would later support TGE\u2019s automotive content.<\/p>\n

The cars, however, were never simply props. TGE explains that he has always spent heavily on the things he enjoys. Even while working as a lifeguard and cleaner, he saved for a Porsche Boxster\u2014his first Porsche and, in his words, his first \u201cproper car.\u201d<\/p>\n

From a Boxster to a Porsche Carrera GT<\/h2>\n

TGE\u2019s Porsche journey quickly moved into more serious territory. After the Boxster came cars including a 991.1 GT3 RS, while other memorable deals included swapping a Ferrari F12 directly for a purple Lamborghini.<\/p>\n

Despite owning track-focused machinery, TGE admits that track driving is not really his world. He prefers enjoying cars on the road and is honest about his ability behind the wheel. For him, ownership should be entertaining, usable and personal.<\/p>\n

The centrepiece of his collection is the Porsche Carrera GT. TGE bought the car in 2020, shortly before the pandemic changed the market. His rare UK-supplied 2006 example has covered around 30,000 miles.<\/p>\n

When he first bought it, even collecting dog food or driving around Wandsworth was enough reason to take the Carrera GT. Today, its rising value makes that freedom harder. TGE describes the car as enjoyable but stressful because its value could clear his mortgage and provide years of financial security.<\/p>\n

Still, he believes important cars should not be judged on mileage alone. Condition, history, specification and the quality of previous maintenance all matter. A low-mileage car can still suffer from ageing rubber and neglected components, while a higher-mileage example may be far healthier if it has been used and maintained properly.<\/p>\n

TGE\u2019s Irish Green Porsche 912<\/h2>\n

At the other end of TGE\u2019s Porsche collection sits his 1966 Porsche 912. He bought the car from a private driveway around 2018 or 2019, intending to restore it gradually and create content around each stage.<\/p>\n

The Italian-market car needed extensive work. It was rusty and tired, but still had the elegant character that makes an early 912 so appealing. After a long restoration, the body returned in Irish Green. TGE accepts that green over tan has become popular, but the car was already green when he bought it.<\/p>\n

Once the bodywork was complete, attention turned to the mechanical refresh. A large selection of parts was required, with suspension components making up much of the volume. The physically largest item was a replacement 62-litre Porsche 911 and 912 fuel tank<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The price difference became a major talking point. TGE estimated that a genuine tank could cost around \u00a31,500 to \u00a32,000, while the replacement discussed was approximately \u00a3246. For a car valued at around \u00a360,000, sensible alternatives allow the budget to cover the wider restoration rather than one component.<\/p>\n

The fuel system refresh also includes the OE Match Porsche fuel-tank sender unit<\/a>, helping the 912 retain everyday function without losing its classic simplicity.<\/p>\n

Underneath the car, key components include a replacement gearbox rubber mount for the Porsche 912<\/a>, front wishbone ball joint<\/a> and classic Porsche track rod<\/a>. They are not glamorous additions, but parts like these can transform how a classic Porsche feels on the road.<\/p>\n

There is room for a discreet modern upgrade too. The Wiesner Classic USB adapter<\/a> adds convenient device charging while keeping the cabin appearance in keeping with the period design.<\/p>\n

For TGE, the goal is not to turn the 912 into a concours car that becomes too precious to use. It is a matching-numbers classic that he wants to drive, enjoy and add miles to. Its lively exhaust may produce more drama than outright power, but that is part of its charm. The 912 offers what he calls \u201cstress-free motoring\u201d: straightforward engineering, accessible parts and the knowledge that problems can be repaired without dismantling half the car.<\/p>\n

Porsche values, future cars and honest ownership<\/h2>\n

The conversation also looks at the wider collector-car market. TGE considered buying a Porsche 918 Spyder at around \u00a31.8 million, but the finance commitment\u2014approximately \u00a3180,000 down and \u00a314,500 per month\u2014made him step back.<\/p>\n

Even at the top of the market, every car brings choices, costs and compromises. TGE also discusses the Saleen S7, his TVR project and why the 992-generation GT3 RS lives up to its reputation.<\/p>\n

From the Carrera GT to the 912, his collection covers two very different sides of Porsche ownership. One is a valuable analogue supercar that becomes harder to use as prices rise. The other is a compact classic being rebuilt so it can be driven without fear. Both reveal the same underlying point: the most memorable cars are the ones that create stories.<\/p>\n
