{"id":4430,"date":"2022-01-21T15:13:41","date_gmt":"2022-01-21T15:13:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.design911.co.uk\/blog\/?p=4430"},"modified":"2022-08-08T12:01:58","modified_gmt":"2022-08-08T11:01:58","slug":"porsche-997-exhaust-system-upgrades","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.design911.co.uk\/blog\/porsche-997-exhaust-system-upgrades\/","title":{"rendered":"Porsche 997 Exhaust System Upgrades"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Porsche 997, the successor and younger sibling to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.design911.co.uk\/blog\/whats-the-truth-about-the-famous-porsche-996-that-divides-opinion\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Porsche 996<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, started in the works as early as late 1998, despite its first layman release coming in 2004, with the Model Year 2005.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A favourite within niche Porsche Facebook settlements, and an extremely large contender for the best all-around Porsche model &#8211; it truly was the first Porsche to take its toes out of the water and step into modern 2000s society.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite the aforementioned, generously termed, mixed success of the Porsche 996, Grant Larson had not given up on the initial 1992 blueprint and remained keen to establish that the new millennium of Porsche 911 models could be a success.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, in 2001, after compiling mountains of clay models and sketchy diagrams, a final design was signed off. The project was officially on.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Porsche zealots were understandably ecstatic to find several relatively minor, but quickly commended, aesthetical changes had been made to the Porsche 997 in light of the 996&#8217;s downfall.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This included the canning of the greatly abhorred &#8220;fried-egg lights,&#8221; with a return to the vigorously fan-guarded oval shape, and a reworked interior &#8211; something that was far more evocative of the insides of the classic 911, as opposed to the 996&#8217;s perhaps more flamboyant.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4434\" src=\"https:\/\/www.design911.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/FSPOR997SCUPP_LR4.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1527\" height=\"1145\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.design911.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/FSPOR997SCUPP_LR4.jpeg 600w, https:\/\/www.design911.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/FSPOR997SCUPP_LR4-400x300.jpeg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1527px) 100vw, 1527px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><b>So, does it suffer from the same problems as the Porsche 996?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fortunately, likely due to the mounds of letters threatening mob action after the 996 release, Porsche technicians did manage to tackle the bulk of the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">major<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> issues that the forerunner had so regularly endured.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nevertheless, many of the Porsche 997 models do not come out of the tin as a perfect car, and it can, and does, unfortunately, suffer from debilitating problems; this is spoken to by the affordability of the 997 models today (of course, relative to Porsche 911s).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite that, the Porsche 997 is, as suggested before, one of the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">greatest <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Porsche 911 models to own while on a budget, as, although it has its flaws, they are relatively easy to fix and remains pretty cost-effective.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can read more about the common issues the 997 faces <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.design911.co.uk\/blog\/porsche-997-common-issues\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The OEM Porsche designed 997 standard exhaust can look vaguely overwhelming to make changes to due to the complicated pattern overarching the bottom of the car.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.elferspot.com\/en\/car\/porsche-997-carrera-2007-1434299\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4445\" src=\"https:\/\/www.design911.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/2007-porsche-997-carrera-750x500.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1138\" height=\"759\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.design911.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/2007-porsche-997-carrera-750x500.jpeg 750w, https:\/\/www.design911.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/2007-porsche-997-carrera-1024x683.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.design911.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/2007-porsche-997-carrera-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.design911.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/2007-porsche-997-carrera-1536x1024.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/www.design911.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/2007-porsche-997-carrera.jpeg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1138px) 100vw, 1138px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, despite its wickedly intricate looks, it&#8217;s relatively easy to make adjustments or remove the exhaust altogether.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Interestingly, the Turbo models, like many other Porsche Turbo variations, utilise &#8220;Variable Turbine Geometry,&#8221;
