It\u2019s not just 991 owners who appreciate the acoustics of the Porsche powerpack \u2013 the Porsche Design studio created these beautiful soundbars<\/a> that promise to \u2018translate the sports car fascination into brilliant soundscapes\u2019 and those guys know what they\u2019re talking about.<\/p>\n

But if you want to confine your music to the back end of your 991, there are some \u2018rev-olutionary\u2019 after-market exhaust upgrades out there. Let\u2019s look at what could be fine-tuning your engine note this month \u2013 and the other garage essentials you didn\u2019t know you needed\u2026<\/p>\n

First off the grid is this Akrapovic slip-on line titanium exhaust system<\/a>. The Akrapovic brand may be new to you, but not the industry, as they have proven themselves over many years in the motorsports arena \u2013 and that\u2019s a tough proving ground.<\/p>\n

In short, closed valves mean a resonant bass, whereas open valves give the road-bound Porsche a nice racing vibe. Insane Bolts<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Broken exhaust bolts. Who needs \u2018em, eh? The problem isn\u2019t so much the issue itself (although no-one\u2019s claiming it\u2019s a good thing) but replacing them. Even straightforward tasks such as an exhaust system update become unhelpfully complicated when exhaust manifold bolts fail.<\/p>\n

With the engine in situ, bolt extraction isn\u2019t easy and getting it wrong can cause a damaged head (and skinned knuckles). So hurray for Stomski Racing<\/a>. Their SR069 kit<\/a> easily, accurately, and flexibly enables stress free bolt removal even with the engine in place.<\/p>\n

Finally, let\u2019s talk high performance stud and nut kits that create a beautiful union between exhaust manifold and cylinder head. It\u2019s an important gig, not helped by oxidization.
