The Porsche 944 is different things to different people. To those outside the traditional Porsche customer profile, the 944 was a more popular entry point to the marque than the more aggressive 924. They loved the more forgiving ride delivered by the transaxle model, as produced by Audi in Neckarsulm, Germany.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

To the purists, the fact the 2.5-litre in-line four-cylinder engine powering the revamped 924 S was developed by Porsche itself made it a “real” Porsche. Being the world\u2019s fastest four-cylinder production car at the time didn\u2019t hurt, either.<\/p>\n

Others loved the unapologetically brutal shape of the 924 S2. Whatever your motive, this was\u2013and is \u2013an iconic drive. But what next? Here\u2019s what. You make your 944 yours<\/em>, from bumper to bumper \u2013 or spoiler to spoiler for the 944 2.7 (1989).<\/p>\n

Purists will say if the delivery spec is good enough for Porsche, it\u2019s good enough for them. Fair enough. Others see the car\u2019s default profile as a starting point \u2013 the blank canvas on which to express how the car makes them feel. What their 944 means to them. That\u2019s also cool.<\/p>\n
