The Porsche 968 was essentially the new 944 \u2013 using body parts from the 944 S2, fact fans \u2013 and pre-dated the 993, which was another incarnation of the 911. But that\u2019s not where this car lives. It\u2019s in the hearts of those of us who love the smell of burning rubber in the morning\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Why so? Because the Porsche 968 was thrust into the world as both a coupe and cabriolet, with the ground-breaking Tiptronic shift system and a six-speed manual transmission available for the first time. This isn\u2019t one for the beard-strokers as it faded away in 1995 after poor sales. It\u2019s a Porsche fans\u2019 car, as the above adjectives from Evo magazine prove.) Like any Porsche, as the handbook will doubtless say, with careful maintenance and regular servicing, your purchase should give you years of unalloyed joy.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>So, let\u2019s get yours revving.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019ve fried your head gasket, then we\u2019ll need to <a href=\"https:\/\/careers.cognizant.com\/uk\/en\/job\/00057115911\/Senior-Content-Copywriter\">get that fixed<\/a>. No-one likes messing with gaskets, but you won\u2019t like what happens next if you neglect them.<\/p>\n<p>A 240 HP output means the Holy Trinity of your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.design911.com\/p\/big-end-conrod-bearings-porsche-924s---92810314302\/\">connecting rod, and the small and big end bearings<\/a> put in a mighty shift every time you let the good times roll. And to keep going, you\u2019d be well advised to stick to genuine parts when you change <a href=\"https:\/\/www.design911.com\/porsche\/968-cs-3-0l-1993-95\/connecting-rod\/\">conrod, bearing kits<\/a>, &#8211; everything down to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.design911.com\/p\/connecting-rod-bolt-porsche-924s---928---944---968\/\">nuts and bolts<\/a>. It\u2019s a Porsche. And an engine overhaul is no place for the amateur. That risks terminal wear to the pressure and drive plates.
