Before ordering, it is necessary to identify which bearing size you need. There are two types of bearings (Single row and Double row) used in these engines. This kit comes with DOUBLE row bearing.

Installation instructions

The direct oil feed (DOF) solution uses a patent pending custom made Intermediate Shaft Flange that utilizes a direct oil feed to the original Intermediate Shaft Bearing. It uses an adapted pressure fed oil line from a positive oil pressure feed on the cylinder head directly to an opening in the custom Intermediate Shaft Flange. This feeds fresh oil directly to the open end of the IMS bearing (after removing the seal to expose the ball bearings on the IMS bearing). By using a positive oil feed from the engine's cylinder head valve cover, there will always be a consistent flow of oil directed to the open end of the intermediate shaft bearing.

This is a cost effective way to help protect against a possible IMS bearing failure, using the original bearing. The system, however can also be used when replacing the bearing with a new SKF steel ball bearing for added insurance with a new, zero mile bearing.

The 986 Boxster marked Porsche's return to a purpose built 2 seat roadster since the famed 550 Spyder. This liberating open cockpit platform was instrumental in saving Porsche from financial uncertainty and was Porsche highest volume seller from 1997 to 2003, until the Cayenne entered the Porsche line up.

The perfectly balanced mid engine 986 Boxster was designed to deliver driving excitement on sinuous back country roads while enabling the driver (and passenger) to literally take in the sights, sun and smells of the surrounding environment and listening to the intoxicating mechanical sounds of a flat 6 Boxer engine tones.

The Boxster experience can only be further heightened by adding improved performance. The IPD Plenums provide impressive the power gains throughout the entire power band making for an even more visceral Porsche driving experience.

All 986 Boxster IPD Plenum applications are designed to utilize the larger 74mm Porsche throttle body. For Boxster 986, 987 and 996, 997 Non-Turbo Models through 2008

Scavenging and aeration in the oil pan have been identified as a problem in 996/997, Boxster, and Cayman models experiencing high G-forces on the racetrack. The R-9095 oil pan spacer provides a simple solution. This spacer increases sump capacity by half a quart, providing more reserve to ward off starvation. The R-9095 is approved by the Porsche Club of America for use in PCA club racing Stock and Prepared class cars. The R-9095 kit clears all factory options including the rear skid plate. Added oil capacities as well as increased oil pan surface area increase oil cooling and engine performance.

*Note: Oil pan and sump baffle are OEM parts and do not need to be purchased. Baffle spacer and pick-up tube spacer are included in this kit.

Motorsports 2 Quart Deep Sump Oil Pan Kit for all 986/996/987/997 Porsche's (excluding GT3, GT2 Turbo and DFI models). This deep sump kit is an extension added to the original oil pan, increasing oil capacity by 2 quarts, helping with oil starvation problems these vehicles commonly have.

What size serpentine belt to run when using an under drive pulley?

The stock serpentine belt length for a 986 Porsche Boxster or Porsche 996 with air conditioning is 2115mm Porsche part # 996 102 151 64. If you remove the air conditioning but keep the stock drive pulley you will need a new serpentine belt that is 1930mm in length. If you then decide to add an underdrive pulley in the range of 4.25 to 5 inches in diameter you will need a belt 1905mm in length. For those of you who would like to add an under drive pulley with air conditioning, the proper length is 2101mm.

The Accusump is designed collect pressurized oil from your engine and store it so it may be discharged later during low oil pressure surges to protect against engine damage during demanding racing conditions. After the oil pressure stabilizes, the piston inside the Accusump moves back and forth, pressurizing the Accusump until it equalizes with engine's oil pressure. The Electric Pressure Control Valve we use is for a discharge/refill of 35-40 PSI. These valves have the convenience of an electric valve for remote mounted units on daily drivers but with the rapid refill rate of a manual valve as required in racing. The E.P.C. valving will only allow the Accusump to discharge oil when the engine's oil pressure drops below a predetermined level and only refill when the pressure rises above that level.

The LN Engineering HPDE Accusump kit is easy to install, requiring plumbing of only a single oil line. Our universal Accusump kit has everything you need to carry out a custom Accusump installation in your Boxster, Cayman, or 911, sans wiring or electrical pieces and includes a two quart Marine Accusump system including LN Engineering's Spin-On Full-Flow Oil Filter Adapter, single input sandwich adapter (for easy one-line installation - fits between filter and LN spin on filter adapter), the LN Engineering Billet Washable High Performance Oil Filter, 45 psi electronic valve, hose, and fittings. In conjunction with the installation of an Accusump, we recommend adding an X51 oil baffle and 997 oil return tubes for improved oil control and ensure scavenge oil is returned to the sump as quickly as possible. WHAT MAKES OUR SOLUTION DIFFERENT?

Roller bearings are not intended for carrying large axial loads. Similar to failure-prone ball bearings, when cylindrical roller bearings are used for thrust control, the roller becomes compromised due to the limited surface contact area on the sides of the rollers. The results of using a cylindrical bearing for thrust control will be similar to all other ball bearing solutions.

In our patented system, we use a 15mm cylindrical bearing with thrust control that allows for the separation of the axial load from the radial load. Our roller bearings do NOT carry the axis load (thrust control) on the side, which leaves the roller free to carry only the radial load (main load). The axial load is carried exclusively on the entire permitter of the outer race. This results in a bearing that is not overloaded and will last the lifetime of the engine.

EPS recommends using this product in conjunction to the Rear Main #8 Seal and Housing

The Faultless IMS Tool is required for installation of the Single Row Pro IMS Retrofit and can also be used to install all existing IMS Retrofit and Solution bearings, as well as for extraction of the original bearing.

Installation of newest Single Row Pro IMS Retrofit is carried out with newly developed, patent pending method, allowing for positive retention of the new bearing with an internal wire-lock. The installation of a dual row bearing in the place of a single row would not be possible without the specialized tooling and processes. The Faultless IMS Tool is required for installation of the Single Row Pro IMS Retrofit and can also be used to install all existing IMS Retrofit and Solution bearings, as well as for extraction of the original bearing.
