How Often Does The Engine Coolant Need To Be Changed?
The recommended frequency of changing engine coolant in a Porsche varies based on the manufacturer’s specifications and the type of coolant used. However, as a general rule, coolant should be changed every two to five years. It is important to regularly check the coolant level as part of a service, and if a warning message appears on the instrument panel’s multi-function display, the coolant level should be checked immediately.
When changing the engine coolant, it is important to be cautious as the coolant reservoir is pressurised. Do not open the reservoir cap when the engine is hot, as the coolant can become hot enough to cause burns. It is recommended to allow the engine to cool down before opening the cap and to protect your hands, arms, and face from any hot coolant that may spray out. If the engine is hot, cover the reservoir cap with a cloth and open it carefully to release any overpressure before unscrewing it completely.
