When it comes to restoring a classic car, there’s a big difference between “good enough” and “flawless.” At Precision Panel Craft, that difference drives everything they do. Their team of passionate craftsmen use period-correct techniques, high-end equipment, and an obsessive attention to detail to bring rare and iconic cars back to life.
Dan, one of the founders, says his passion for cars started early: “I was probably 12 or 13 years old when I learned to work on cars with my dad on the driveway. That’s where it all began.” After spending time at his mum’s engineering firm, he quickly realised it wasn’t for him. “I knew cars were where I wanted to be,” he explains. That decision led him through a series of garages before landing at a Ferrari specialist. But in the background, he was already laying the foundations for Precision Panel Craft.
From day one, he had one clear goal: “We always agreed that we’d aim for the best of the best in quality. We wanted to set ourselves apart from everyone else.”

From Empty Unit to World-Class Workshop
When they first moved into their current unit, it was a blank canvas. “There was no paint on the floor, no equipment—just four walls and four shutters,” Dan recalls. Today, it’s a fully equipped restoration facility. Security gates, professional jigs, and specialist machinery fill the space, creating a workshop built to handle the highest level of classic car restoration.
“We’ve got a £15,000 spinning jig and a Spanesi jig,” says Dan. “I’ve seen a lot of restorations done on axle stands. It may work, but in my head, nothing beats having a car perfectly supported while you work on it.” That commitment to doing things properly runs through everything they do.

Period-Correct Craftsmanship with Precision Panel
What really sets Precision Panel Craft apart is their commitment to authenticity. “We use a lot of period-correct machinery,” Dan explains. “We’ve got 1960s folders because it’s easier to restore cars using the tools they were built with. We even use gas welding. It’s hard to get hold of now, but that’s how the cars were built, and that’s how we build them.”
This approach doesn’t just create better results—it brings each car back to life exactly as it would have been when it left the factory decades ago.

Precision Panel Restoration Process
Precision Panel Craft specialises in metalwork, but their process covers far more than that. Every restoration starts with a full strip-down and blast to ensure nothing is missed. From there, the team performs a dry-fit of every component before paint. “There’s nothing worse than having a freshly painted shell that’s had a £15–20k repaint and finding things don’t fit,” says Dan. “We fit everything—glass, latches, catches, rubbers, even suspension—before paint. When it goes into the booth, it’s exactly how it should be.”
Once the dry-fit is complete, the car is painted and reassembled in-house. Every detail is checked, every component fitted, until the car is ready to be enjoyed again.
This method takes longer, but it avoids the expensive mistakes that can come from rushing a restoration. As Dan puts it, “We’d rather do it once and do it right.”

Trusted Parts from Design911
Precision Panel Craft also partners with Design911 to source parts for their projects. “Our relationship with Design911 started years ago with a 911 backdate project,” Dan says. “We bought the entire kit from them. After that, I spoke to Darrel, and we moved on to 356 panels. Since then, every mechanical part, every piece of trim—it all comes from Design911.”
That partnership ensures every build benefits from top-quality parts, from the smallest rubber seal to the largest body panel.

Expanding Beyond Restoration
Although restoration remains their core expertise, Precision Panel Craft has expanded their services over time. Today, they also offer secure vehicle storage and professional detailing. “We’ve always grown naturally,” Dan explains. “Clients wanted storage, so we added it. They wanted detailing, so we added that too.”
They also provide project consultations. “We welcome people to just turn up,” Dan says. “You can buzz us, and we’ll let you in. If you’ve got a project in mind, we’ll look at the car, give you an honest appraisal, and explain exactly what it needs. We’ll even come to you if that’s easier.”
This transparency has earned them a loyal client base. They’ve built their reputation not only on craftsmanship but also on trust—something that’s becoming rare in the classic car world.

Built by Enthusiasts, for Enthusiasts
At its core, Precision Panel Craft is a workshop run by people who live and breathe cars. Whether it’s a Porsche, a Ferrari, or a rare British classic, every project receives the same level of care and attention.
After five years in business, their name has become synonymous with quality. By combining traditional techniques with modern equipment—and backing it all up with a genuine passion for what they do—Dan and Matt have created something special.
