Porsche Carrera2 GTS

The Porsche 911 is one of the most famous sports cars worldwide, so you would expect there to be fans all over the world, and one of the main countries for this is America. The main Porsche club in America is called “Porsche Club America”. The club spans across the USA and Canada and it has over 130,000 members, making it the largest single brand club in the entire world.

Porsche recognises that this club is important to Porsche’s success in America, so the brand thought they would award them a special model, to celebrate the club’s success in the states, this being the 991.1 GTS club coupe.

The car was based on a regular C2 GTS, one of the most dynamically competent 911s in the range. So, it was the perfect base for a limited edition 911. But the colour was one of the most important features about the car. The shade is called “Club Blau”. This is a shade that is like Acid Blue, a colour that was found on the 356. PCA picked this shade because of this reason, they also had to ask Porsche to name the colour with the German spelling of blue, to make the shade that bit more special.

This is not the only special thing on the exterior of the car however, the model also got special wheels. They resemble the sport classic wheel design found on the normal 911, but they have been finished in a black and silver combination. These wheels go perfectly with the paint colour and suit the club coupe perfectly. This car also has a ducktail spoiler, this is something that is found on the normal 911, but here it looks even more unique.

Porsche just did not leave the exclusive features to the exterior however, the interior has received some special additions. On the interior the car was wrapped with black leather, and contrasting that was some red contrast stitching, this matches the steel brakes that were found on the exterior. Around the steering wheel, and the shifter boot, we saw a blend of blue and red stitching, a combination that matches the colours found in the PCA logo.

On the surface the club coupe might have not been that much different to a regular GTS, but when you chip away at the surface you find all the special features this car has. It was only made in 60 units, and it was offered to members of Porsche club America, and most of those 60 cars are still with their original owners.
