The Targa Florio has long been my favorite road race of all time. In 1973, Gijs van Lennep teamed up Herbert Müller to capture the toughest road racing crown. Imagine, blasting through a string of tiny villages in Sicily, the crackle of the exhaust resonating off ancient walls. Spectators and local peasants lining the narrow roads, hanging off balconies, bridges and sun-scorched trees, only inches away from the petrol-fueled action. It may have been only 40 years ago, but such a race would be unthinkable in the sanitized racing World of today.
Sadly, 1973 turned out to be the last real Targa, so for now the T-shirt will have to do...
These heavyweight 5.4 oz shirts are made of 100% pre-shrunk cotton and feature a taped neck to shoulder seam | Silk-screened in the USA
