This Sachs clutch slave cylinder is suitable for specified Porsche 924 Turbo, 924S and 944 models built from 1979 to 1991. It replaces the hydraulic operating cylinder that moves the clutch release mechanism when the pedal is pressed.
Fits:
Porsche 924 Turbo 1979 - 1982
Porsche 924S 1986 - 1988
Porsche 944 1982 - 1991
Check fitment for your specific vehicle (model, year, engine) before ordering.
What This Product Does
The slave cylinder receives pressurised hydraulic fluid from the clutch master cylinder. Its internal piston then extends the pushrod, operating the clutch release mechanism so that drive can be interrupted for starting, stopping and changing gear. Sachs supplies clutch and transmission components developed around original-equipment requirements and factory-style operation.
Functions
- Changes hydraulic pressure into mechanical movement
- Operates the clutch release mechanism
- Allows the clutch to disengage during gear selection
- Supports a consistent clutch pedal action
- Maintains pressure within the clutch hydraulic circuit
Technical Details
- Product type: clutch slave cylinder
- Brand: Sachs
- Porsche reference: 94411623700
- Sachs supplier reference: 6283 605 013
- Installed at the clutch housing
Symptoms of Fault
- A soft clutch pedal or one that sinks towards the floor
- Difficulty selecting gears while the engine is running
- A clutch bite point that changes unexpectedly
- Hydraulic fluid around the cylinder or clutch housing
- Incomplete clutch disengagement
- Intermittent loss of clutch operation, particularly after repeated use
Why Replacement Matters
Worn seals, corrosion or damage inside the cylinder can allow fluid to escape or pressure to bypass the piston. Replacing a leaking or ineffective slave cylinder restores the movement required to operate the clutch release mechanism and reduces the risk of losing clutch control. The hydraulic line, master cylinder, clutch fork and release components should also be inspected where accessible, as faults in these areas can produce similar symptoms.

FAQs
- Does the system need bleeding after installation?
Yes. Air must be removed from the clutch hydraulic circuit using the correct bleeding procedure. - Could difficult gear selection be caused by the clutch itself?
Yes. The master cylinder, hydraulic line, clutch fork, release bearing and clutch assembly should be checked before confirming the fault. - Should the clutch master cylinder also be replaced?
Not automatically, but it should be inspected for leakage, internal pressure loss and wear, particularly if both cylinders are of a similar age. - Does hydraulic fluid specification matter?
Yes. Use the fluid specification stated for the vehicle and avoid mixing incompatible fluids.
