Two Required per Vehicle
The Porsche 964 and naturally aspirated 993 use a twin-ignition distributor system, with two spark plugs per cylinder. This arrangement requires two distributor caps operating together.

When one cap has deteriorated through age or mileage, it is generally advisable to inspect both caps and both rotor arms so the ignition system remains evenly serviced.

What Does the Distributor Cap Do? 
The distributor cap forms part of the system responsible for routing ignition voltage to the correct spark plug.

As the distributor rotor turns inside the cap, electrical energy is directed to the appropriate terminal and then through the ignition lead to the spark plug.

Correct distributor-cap condition helps provide:
