The driveshaft, also known as a rear axle shaft or half shaft, forms part of the rear drivetrain. It connects the transmission / differential output to the rear wheel hub assembly and transfers rotational drive through the CV joints.

What this part does
A correctly functioning driveshaft allows engine torque to be transmitted smoothly to the rear wheels while accommodating the movement of the rear suspension. Worn driveshaft or CV joint components can cause clicking, knocking, vibration or excessive drivetrain play, particularly when accelerating or when the suspension is moving.

Functions:
  • Replaces the rear driveshaft / axle shaft
  • Transfers drive from the transaxle to the rear wheel
  • Suitable for manual transmission applications
  • Allows suspension movement while transmitting torque
  • Helps restore smooth drivetrain operation
  • Helps address vibration, knocking or excessive play caused by worn drivetrain components
  • Suitable for drivetrain repair or restoration OE Match replacement part

Why Replace This Part?
Driveshafts and their associated joints are subject to continuous torque loads, suspension movement and vibration. Over time, wear can develop in the joints or shaft assembly.
Common signs of wear can include:
  •  Clicking or knocking from the rear drivetrain
  •  Vibration under acceleration
  •  Excessive drivetrain play
  •  Clunking when taking up drive
  •  Worn or damaged CV joints
  •  Physical damage to the driveshaft
  •  Noise that changes with vehicle speed or load

Replacing a worn driveshaft helps restore smooth and reliable transfer of power to the rear wheels.

Where it fits on the car
Fits within the rear drivetrain, between the transaxle / differential and rear wheel hub assembly.
