Diagram ref no 1

The driveshaft transfers rotational power from the transmission / differential output to the rear wheel hub. It works with the CV joints to allow suspension movement while maintaining smooth and consistent drive to the road wheels.

Functions
•  Replaces the rear driveshaft / axle shaft
•  Suitable for Porsche 987.1 Boxster and Cayman 2.7L Tiptronic cars
•  Transfers drive from the transmission to the wheel hub
•  Supports smooth power delivery under acceleration
•  Allows suspension movement through the CV joint assembly
•  Helps reduce vibration, knocking, or drivetrain play caused by worn axle components
•  OE Match replacement for Porsche 987.1 drivetrain repair.

Why Replace This Part?
Driveshafts and CV joints are exposed to torque load, road dirt, suspension movement, heat, vibration, and mileage. Over time, joints can wear, boots can split, grease can escape, and shaft components can develop play or imbalance. A worn or damaged driveshaft may cause clicking, knocking, vibration, grease leakage, poor power delivery, or drivetrain noise. Replacing the driveshaft helps restore smooth and reliable rear axle operation.

When to Replace This Part
•   Clicking or knocking is present under acceleration or cornering
•   Vibration is felt through the drivetrain
•   CV boots are split, leaking, or damaged
•   Grease is visible around the driveshaft or wheel hub area
•   Excessive play is found in the CV joints or shaft
•   Rear axle or transmission service is being carried out
•   The vehicle is undergoing Porsche 987.1 drivetrain repair or restoration

Where it fits on the car
This driveshaft fits within the rear axle drivetrain assembly on Porsche 987.1 Boxster and 987.1 Cayman 2.7L Tiptronic models. Exact side and position should be checked against the vehicle diagram before ordering.
