1987 Model Owners – 24-Pin or 28-Pin?
1987 was a transitional production year, during which
Porsche changed from a 24-pin EPROM to a 28-pin version.
If you own a 1987 model, the only reliable way to determine
which chip your vehicle requires is to inspect the DME control unit.
The original EPROM is a black rectangular chip fitted with a
factory foil label carrying a part number similar to: 1267355xxx
Simply count the number of legs (pins):
24
pins – Order the 24-pin version.
28
pins – This product is correct.
