Fabspeed XperTune Performance Software ECU Upgrade.

The Fabspeed XperTune Performance Software is an ECU calibration upgrade developed for the Porsche 997 Carrera 3.6L and Carrera S 3.8L from 2005–2008.

Fits:

Rather than physically removing the engine control unit for bench flashing, the system uses a supplied handheld OBD-II tuning device to read the original ECU data and install a Fabspeed calibration through the vehicle's diagnostic port.

The calibration is created around the vehicle's specification and modifications, with the aim of improving:

  • Horsepower
  • Torque
  • Throttle response
  • Engine response
  • Overall drivability
  • Performance from compatible intake and exhaust upgrades


What This Product Does:
The engine control unit manages many of the parameters that determine how the engine operates.

These include functions relating to:

  • Fuel delivery
  • Ignition strategy
  • Throttle behaviour
  • Sensor inputs
  • Engine-load calculations
  • Torque and performance management

Fabspeed's XperTune software recalibrates selected ECU parameters to make better use of the naturally aspirated 997 Carrera engine's performance potential.

On a modified vehicle, the tune can also be written around compatible performance hardware so that the ECU calibration better matches the engine's actual configuration.

Performance Benefits:
Fabspeed publishes the following Dynojet figures from its development vehicle:

Standard calibration:

  • 289 wheel horsepower
  • 256 lb-ft torque

Fabspeed calibration:

  • 299 wheel horsepower
  • 263 lb-ft torque

Fabspeed reports:

  • Peak gain: +9 whp
  • Peak torque gain: +7 lb-ft
  • Maximum gain at approximately 6300 rpm: more than +24 whp
  • Maximum torque gain at approximately 6300 rpm: +20 lb-ft

The difference between peak gains and maximum gains is important. Peak figures compare the vehicle's absolute peak output, while maximum gains refer to the largest difference between the stock and tuned curves at a particular engine speed.

Actual results will vary according to engine condition, fuel, vehicle specification, modifications and environmental conditions.
