What This Product Does

The cross member provides structural support within the front axle assembly, helping locate the attached suspension components and maintain their mounting geometry. It is intended for replacement or restoration work where the existing component needs renewal.

Functions

  • Supports components attached to the front axle assembly.
  • Maintains the relationship between suspension mounting points.
  • Transfers loads through the front chassis structure.

Technical Details

  • Construction: cast magnesium.
  • Treatment: temperature hardening.
  • Brackets are included with the cross member.
  • The two holes needed for the rear arms must be made when fitting; this is not a fully pre-drilled installation.
  • Supplied diagram records identify reference 91134103101 as a strut rather than the complete cross member. Confirm the required assembly and reference before fitting.

Symptoms of Fault

  • Visible cracks, deterioration or impact distortion.
  • Knocking associated with loose or damaged mounting points.
  • Persistent alignment discrepancies or unusual tyre wear.
  • Movement around the front suspension attachments.

These symptoms can also originate in bushes, joints or fixings. Inspect the assembly before deciding which component requires replacement.

Why Replacement Matters

Damage or deterioration can alter the position and support of connected components. Replacement addresses the affected structure, while inspection of adjoining brackets, mounting surfaces and fasteners helps identify related faults.

FAQs

Is drilling necessary?
Yes. The two rear-arm mounting holes must be produced during installation.

Should alignment be checked afterwards?
Arrange a geometry check following work that disturbs suspension mounting positions.

What else should be inspected?
Check associated bushes, brackets, bolts and chassis mounting areas. Have a competent technician confirm fitment and carry out the drilling and installation.
