The MOMO Prototipo Desert is an exclusive interpretation of one of MOMO's most iconic steering wheel designs, combining the classic proportions and ergonomics of the original Prototipo with a distinctive desert-inspired colour scheme.
Measuring 350mm in diameter, the Prototipo Desert provides an excellent balance between steering response, driver feedback and everyday usability. Its classic motorsport design makes it particularly well suited to classic Porsche models, restomods and other performance cars where period-inspired styling is important.
Sahara Vintage Leather
The circular-section rim is wrapped in premium Sahara Vintage Leather, naturally treated to create a distinctive texture and character.
The warm brown finish gives the Prototipo Desert a more luxurious and understated appearance than a traditional black motorsport steering wheel, making it particularly suited to classic interiors featuring brown, tan, beige or other natural leather tones.
Tone-on-tone parallel stitching completes the rim for a clean and refined finish.
Dark Brown Anodised Spokes
The three spokes feature an exclusive Dark Brown anodised finish, providing a subtle contrast against the lighter Sahara Vintage Leather.
This combination retains the recognisable motorsport character of the Prototipo while giving the Desert edition its own distinctive appearance.
Milled & Hand-Enamelled MOMO Logo
Attention to detail continues with the MOMO logo, which is precisely milled and hand enamelled.
This finishing touch reflects the Italian craftsmanship and attention to detail associated with MOMO's classic performance steering wheels.
Why Choose a 350mm Steering Wheel?
A 350mm diameter is an excellent choice for classic and performance cars, providing a more compact and direct feel than many larger factory steering wheels without becoming excessively small for road use.
The size can provide:
- Responsive steering feel
- Good driver feedback
- Comfortable road use
- Classic motorsport proportions
- Improved leg clearance compared with some larger factory wheels
- A more focused driving position
Installation & Hub Requirements
An aftermarket steering wheel hub is required for installation and is not included with the steering wheel.
We recommend using a compatible MOMO hub kit for the vehicle. Suitable hubs from other manufacturers may also be compatible, but fitment should always be confirmed before installation.
MOMO Prototipo Steering Wheels for Classic Porsche & Performance Cars
The MOMO Prototipo has become one of the most recognisable steering wheel designs in classic motorsport, combining simple three-spoke styling with driver-focused ergonomics.
The Prototipo Desert offers a distinctive alternative to traditional black steering wheels, combining Sahara Vintage Leather with Dark Brown anodised spokes for a warmer, more sophisticated appearance.
Its 350mm diameter makes it particularly attractive for classic Porsche restorations, restomods, historic motorsport-inspired builds and performance cars where improved driver interaction needs to be combined with period-style interior detailing.
