The DesignTek Stage 1 turbocharger upgrade service converts customer-supplied Porsche 993 911 GT2 turbochargers to MD422 & MD423 hybrid specification. No complete replacement turbochargers are included.

How the Service Works

Submit your existing turbochargers for modification. Alternatively, obtain new units independently and arrange their conversion as a separate service; purchasing turbochargers does not include upgrade work.

What This Product Does

This is a modification service applied to turbochargers supplied by the customer. The specified conversion is MD422 & MD423; it is neither an outright turbocharger pair nor an engine overhaul kit.

Investigate unusual whining, exhaust smoke, increased oil consumption, delayed boost delivery or oil leakage before submitting units. These symptoms alone do not establish that turbocharger modification is appropriate.

Why Replacement Matters

An upgrade cannot correct an unresolved mechanical defect. Assess engine condition, oil supply, boost pipework and seals first, and review the engine-management requirements alongside any supporting modifications.

The Cayenne turbo / GTS 4.0ltr Intercoolers have been meticulously designed and engineered to fit exactly like the OEM units they replace. Utilising all factory mounting points, the installation is straightforward with a “drop-in fit” design. No cutting or modifications are required and there is no need for aftermarket shrouds or hoses. All mating OEM components can be reused and reinstalled.

The Thermal Dispersion Black finish is used to aid further the cooling efficiency of these Intercoolers and they are then sent to a special aerospace company where this special ceramic coating is applied. This unique coating rapidly disperses heat away from the intercoolers at an increased rate of about 15% compared to non-coated parts. In addition, this special coating gives the intercoolers a durable OEM stealth look behind the open front bumper air inlets.

CSF has integrated the charge pipe into the design of the top end tank with an aluminum welded pipe replacing the factory bolt-on plastic part which is sealed with an inner O-Ring. It has been stated that the OEM O-Rings may be a factory design flaw as these can fail. This failure causes boost leaks and triggers a check engine light which is quite surprising on such a new vehicle. These O-Rings have been known to already started showing signs of failure with only a few thousand miles on the odometer.

As with CSF’s other products the new Cayenne turbo / GTS Intercoolers feature 100% TIG-welded machined billet aluminum end tanks. This is a very important upgrade compared to the OEM crimped plastic composite end tanks and this feature is not only aesthetically pleasing, but is also stronger offering longevity and durability on high-performance vehicles. The CNC machined billet end tanks are ready to withstand increased boost pressures from bolt-on modifications, higher performance tunes, as well as upgraded turbochargers.
