What This Product Does
This spring retains the outer end of the steering gaiter. Correct retention helps the bellows remain seated, allowing the boot to protect the covered steering components from contamination. It is retaining hardware, not a replacement gaiter, track rod or complete rack.
Functions
- Holds the bellows at its outer attachment.
- Helps prevent displacement of the gaiter during steering movement.
- Supports the protective function of the fitted boot.
Technical Details
- Part reference: 90134730900.
- Brand: OE Match.
- Position: outer bellows retainer.
- Supplied diagrams specify two springs per vehicle; this is the assembly requirement, not the pack quantity.
Sold as each
Symptoms of Fault
A loose gaiter or contamination around its attachment warrants inspection of both the boot and its retaining hardware. Knocking or steering play can originate elsewhere in the steering or suspension assembly and does not, by itself, identify a faulty retaining spring.
Why Replacement Matters
Renewing damaged or missing retaining hardware allows the gaiter to be secured during repair or restoration. Inspect the bellows and adjoining components at the same time rather than assuming a new spring will correct existing boot damage or joint wear.
FAQs
How many are required?
The supplied assembly diagrams show two per vehicle. Each spring is supplied individually.
Is wheel alignment required?
If the repair involves disturbing track rods or their adjustment, have the alignment checked afterwards.
What should be inspected alongside it?
Examine the gaiter for splits and check the covered joint for contamination or play while access is available.
