High-quality STABILUS front bonnet damper / gas strut for the Porsche Taycan Type 9J1, covering both first-generation 9J1.1 and facelift 9J1.2 applications.

The STABILUS 321758 LIFT-O-MAT is designed to provide controlled lifting assistance and secure support for the Taycan's front bonnet. It replaces the corresponding Porsche bonnet support strut and cross-references Porsche numbers PAD823359, 9J1823359 and 9J1823359A.

STABILUS is a specialist manufacturer of automotive gas springs and motion-control systems, and its LIFT-O-MAT range is widely used for bonnet, tailgate and other vehicle-panel applications.

The gas spring provides a controlled extension force to assist when opening the bonnet and helps hold it securely in the fully raised position during servicing, inspection or access to the front luggage compartment.

Why Replace Worn Bonnet Dampers?

Bonnet gas struts gradually lose pressure through normal ageing and use.
Typical signs of a weak or failing bonnet damper include:
•  Bonnet no longer staying fully open
•  Bonnet slowly dropping after being raised
•  Increased effort required to open the bonnet
•  Uneven support from one side
•  Weak or inconsistent lifting assistance
•  Visible oil leakage or damage to the gas strut

Replacing worn dampers restores controlled opening assistance and helps ensure the bonnet remains securely supported.

STABILUS LIFT-O-MAT Technology

The LIFT-O-MAT is a pressurised gas spring designed to assist and control the movement of vehicle panels. The internal gas pressure acts on the piston rod to provide extension force when the bonnet is opened. For this Porsche Taycan application, the STABILUS 321758 is rated at 300N, with a 375mm overall length and 118mm stroke.

Recommended Replacement

Because the two gas struts work together to support the bonnet, a significant difference in pressure between an old damper and a new one may lead to uneven operation. For this reason, replacing both dampers together is generally recommended where both original units are of the same age.
