Porsche 944 / 924S High-Pressure Fuel Hose XL – Safety Upgrade

Prevent Fuel Leaks and Reduce Engine Bay Fire Risk

One of the most common causes of engine bay fires in the Porsche 944 is failure of the main high-pressure fuel line. Over time, the original hose ages, hardens and develops cracks. When this line leaks, fuel can drip directly onto the hot exhaust manifold, creating a serious fire hazard.

Fits:

• Porsche 924S 2.5L 1986-87
• Porsche 924S 2.5L 1988
• Porsche 944 2.5L 8V 1982-87
• Porsche 944 2.7L 8V 1988-89
• Porsche 944S 2.5L 16V 1987-88
• Porsche 944S2 3.0L 16V 1989-91
• Porsche 944 Turbo 2.5L 8V 1985-88
• Porsche 944 Turbo 2.5L 8V 1989-91
• Porsche 944 Turbo S 2.5L 8V 1988

This upgraded XL high-pressure fuel hose is designed to eliminate that risk by improving routing and adding additional heat protection.

What the Main Fuel Hose Does

The main high-pressure fuel hose delivers pressurised fuel from the fuel rail and fuel system to the engine. It operates under constant pressure and high temperatures inside the engine bay.

Its function is critical to:

• Supplying consistent fuel pressure
• Maintaining proper engine performance
• Ensuring safe fuel delivery under load

Because this hose sits near the exhaust system in factory configuration, deterioration can quickly become dangerous.

Why Original Fuel Hoses Fail

Over decades of use, factory fuel hoses commonly suffer from:

• Age-related rubber cracking
• Heat exposure from the exhaust manifold
• Ethanol content in modern fuels
• Internal degradation under pressure
• Sudden splitting without warning

Fuel leakage can happen unexpectedly and escalate quickly.

Why You Should Upgrade to the XL Version

This XL high-pressure fuel hose has been redesigned for improved safety and longevity.

Key advantages include:

• Extra length to reroute the hose along the top of the bulkhead
• Avoids running directly over the hot exhaust
• Black heat-resistant outer sheath for added protection
• Improved routing reduces stress on fuel rail connections
• Helps prevent cracking at fuel rail fittings

By routing the hose away from the exhaust and securing it along the bulkhead, the risk of fuel contacting high heat components is significantly reduced.

In early models and 924S variants, the extended length allows cleaner routing under the spray piece, improving both appearance and reliability.

A vehicle lift is required for installation.

When You Should Replace Your Fuel Line

You should replace the main fuel hose if:

• The original line has never been replaced
• You notice fuel smell in the engine bay
• The hose shows cracking or brittleness
• You are restoring or maintaining a classic 944 or 924S
• You want preventative fire protection

Eventually, every original hose will require replacement. Upgrading now protects both your vehicle and your investment.
