Engine cam cover gasket and bolt kit
This OE Match engine cam cover gasket and OE Porsche bolt kit is a complete replacement sealing kit for Porsche 991.2 Carrera models. It includes one OE Match valve cover gasket and genuine Porsche cam cover bolts, giving the required components to reseal both engine cam covers.

Fits:
Porsche 991.2 Carrera 2016 - 2019

Diagram Ref No 9, 8 and 13.

The cam cover gaskets seal the joint between the cam covers and the cylinder heads, helping prevent engine oil leaks from the upper engine area. The OE Porsche bolts secure the cam covers in place and provide the correct clamping force needed to maintain an even gasket seal under heat, vibration, and normal engine operation.

Functions
Reseals both engine cam covers
Helps prevent oil leaks from the cam cover / valve cover area
Seals the cam cover to cylinder head joint
Helps maintain correct clamping pressure across the covers
OE Match gasket solution with OE Porsche fixing hardware.

Why Replace This Kit?
Cam cover gaskets are exposed to constant heat cycling, engine oil, vibration, and age-related wear. Over time, the gaskets can harden, flatten, crack, or lose their sealing ability, which may result in oil leaks around the cam cover area. Replacing the gaskets together with new OE Porsche bolts helps restore reliable sealing and reduces the risk of repeat labour caused by reused or worn fixing hardware.

When to Replace This Kit
Oil leaks are visible around the cam cover / valve cover area
There is a burning oil smell from oil reaching hot engine or exhaust components
Oil residue or drips are found around the upper engine area
•  The cam covers have been removed during service or repair
The original gaskets are hardened, flattened, cracked, or leaking
The original bolts are corroded, damaged, stretched, or previously removed
The engine is undergoing top-end service, leak repair, or preventative maintenance.

Where it fits on the car
This kit fits on the engine cam cover / valve cover areas of Porsche 991.2 Carrera models. One gasket is used for the cylinders 1–3 side and one gasket is used for the cylinders 4–6 side, with the included bolts securing the cam covers to the cylinder heads according to the factory tightening sequence and torque specification.

Constructed from premium heat-resistant gasket materials, the valve cover gaskets are engineered to withstand continuous exposure to engine oil, high operating temperatures, pressure fluctuations and vibration. They play a vital role in maintaining lubrication system integrity, engine cleanliness and long-term engine reliability.

What This Product Does:
  • Creates a leak-free seal between the valve cover and cylinder head.
  • Prevents engine oil leaks from the valvetrain area.
  • Helps maintain correct engine oil levels and pressure.
  • Protects camshaft and valvetrain components from contamination.
  • Supports efficient engine lubrication.
  • Helps maintain engine cleanliness and reliability.
  • Contributes to long-term engine performance and protection.

Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
  • Visible oil leaks around the valve cover.
  • Oil residue on the cylinder head or surrounding engine components.
  • Burning oil smell from oil contacting hot engine surfaces.
  • Oil drips beneath the vehicle.
  • Low engine oil levels between services.
  • Smoke from the engine bay caused by oil leakage.
  • Dirt accumulation around leaking gasket areas.
  • Oil contamination of nearby ignition components in certain applications.
  • Increased engine bay contamination from leaking oil.

Why Replacement Matters:

  • Valve cover gaskets are continuously exposed to engine heat, oil, vibration and thermal cycling. Over time, the gasket material can harden, shrink, crack or lose elasticity, reducing its ability to maintain a proper seal.
  • A failing valve cover gasket can allow engine oil to escape from the cylinder head area, resulting in oil loss, contamination of surrounding components and reduced engine cleanliness. If left unresolved, ongoing oil leaks can contribute to reduced lubrication efficiency, increased engine wear and potential damage to nearby electrical or ignition system components.
  • Replacing a worn valve cover gasket restores proper sealing, prevents oil leaks and helps maintain the integrity of the engine lubrication system. An OE Match replacement provides factory-style fitment, dependable sealing performance and long-term durability, ensuring reliable protection for your Porsche engine and valvetrain assembly.

About Camshaft covers / Gaskets

Camshaft Covers & Gaskets – Engine Protection and Leak Prevention for Porsche Engines

Camshaft covers and gaskets play a vital role in sealing and protecting your Porsche’s engine. The camshaft cover (often called a rocker cover or valve cover) encloses the top of the engine, shielding internal components like the camshaft, valves, and timing chain from debris, oil loss, and contaminants. The gasket provides an airtight seal between the cover and cylinder head, preventing oil leaks and maintaining proper engine lubrication.

At Design911, we supply a wide range of genuine and high-quality camshaft covers and gaskets for numerous Porsche models such as 356, 924, 944, 928, 911, Boxster, Cayman, Cayenne, Macan, and Panamera models. Each component is engineered for a perfect fit and superior durability, ensuring long-lasting sealing and protection for high-performance Porsche engines.

What Do Camshaft Covers & Gaskets Do?

These components are essential for engine integrity and performance. Their functions include:

Sealing the camshaft area to prevent oil leaks and contamination. Protecting internal components from dust, dirt, and debris. Maintaining crankcase pressure balance for efficient engine operation. Reducing oil consumption and ensuring consistent lubrication.

Proper sealing is critical for preventing oil leaks that can affect engine performance or damage ignition components.

Why Do Camshaft Covers & Gaskets Fail?

Camshaft covers and gaskets are subjected to extreme heat, vibration, and pressure, which can cause material fatigue and degradation over time. Common causes of failure include:

  • Heat cycling causing gasket hardening and cracking.
  • Oil contamination breaking down gasket material.
  • Warped or corroded covers reducing sealing effectiveness.
  • Improper installation or overtightening of bolts.
  • Age-related wear and long service intervals.

Signs of failure include visible oil leaks, burning oil smell, engine misfires, or oil residue around the camshaft cover area.

Why Replace Camshaft Covers & Gaskets?

Replacing damaged or leaking camshaft covers and gaskets ensures proper sealing, protects internal components, and prevents oil loss. Neglecting these parts can lead to oil contamination, engine misfires, or even long-term engine damage.

Benefits of replacement include:

  • Eliminates oil leaks and residue buildup.
  • Prevents damage to ignition coils and spark plugs.
  • Improves engine performance and longevity.
  • Ensures clean, efficient lubrication with manufacturer-quality sealing.

All components available at Design911 are crafted from high-grade aluminium, composite, or reinforced rubber materials, ensuring superior sealing performance and heat resistance for long-term reliability.
