Product Information

The suspension control arms connect the suspension and steering knuckle to the chassis and allow the suspension to move and articulate over bumps and road imperfections. This kit also includes the sub-frame bushes.

Control arms utilize bushings and ball joints to make these connections and those are the parts of the control arm that wear out and fail. Worn ball joints and bushings will cause vibration and clunking when driving, uneven tire wear, cause the vehicle to pull in one direction, and increase stopping distances.

This control arm kit will restore the handling and driving performance of your 993. Included in our kit are the rear control arms for the left and right sides.

Suspension Control Arm Kit

Control arms are crucial link in a vehicle's suspension connecting the suspension to a vehicle's subframe. These pieces are usually hinged to allow for suspension to travel and articulate as the vehicle rides over obstructions in the road and while the vehicle turns. Many vehicles such as those with independent suspensions have multiple links and feature several connection points and arms to offer better ride quality and comfort.

As bushings and joints in a control arm begin to wear you may notice a looseness feel in your suspension. And while many arms have replaceable and serviceable individual components, many still require the replacement of the entire arm.

Suspension Control Arm Kit Failure Symptoms

Play in suspension joints where these arms meet the subframe and/or knuckle Buckling noise emanating from the suspension Uneven tire wear Inability to properly align vehicle Shutter or vibration coming from the steering wheel at highway speed Wandering or pulling sensation from side to side felt on the steering wheel.

The Porsche 993 is renowned for its exceptional balance and handling characteristics. A properly functioning rear anti roll bar system is essential for maintaining the confidence-inspiring road holding and stability that make the final air-cooled 911 so rewarding to drive.

Manufactured to OE Match specifications, this rear drop link provides reliable performance, correct fitment and factory-style suspension operation.

What Does a Rear Anti Roll Bar Drop Link Do?

The rear anti roll bar drop link forms the connection between the anti roll bar and the suspension system.

Its primary functions include:

  • Transferring suspension movement to the anti roll bar
  • Helping reduce body roll during cornering
  • Improving vehicle stability
  • Supporting balanced handling characteristics
  • Enhancing steering response
  • Maintaining suspension geometry
  • Improving driver confidence

Without correctly functioning drop links, the anti roll bar cannot effectively perform its role within the suspension system.

Why Do Rear Drop Links Fail?

Drop links operate in a harsh environment and are constantly exposed to movement, vibration and road contamination.

Common causes of failure include:

  • Ball joint wear
  • Rubber boot deterioration
  • Corrosion Water ingress
  • Road salt exposure
  • High mileage wear
  • Suspension fatigue
  • Age-related deterioration

As wear develops, excessive movement can occur within the joints, reducing suspension effectiveness.

Symptoms of a Failing Rear Anti Roll Bar Drop Link

Common warning signs include:
Knocking noises from the rear suspension
Clunking sounds over bumps
Reduced handling precision
Increased body roll during cornering
Suspension looseness
Uneven vehicle behaviour
Excessive play in the drop link joints
MOT or inspection failures relating to suspension wear

These symptoms often become more noticeable during spirited driving or on uneven road surfaces.

When Should the Drop Link Be Replaced?

Replacement is recommended when:
Joint play is detected
Suspension noises develop
Rubber boots become damaged
Corrosion affects the component
Handling performance deteriorates
Suspension refurbishment is being carried out
Restoring a Porsche 993 or 993 turbo
Preventative maintenance is being performed

Many Porsche specialists recommend inspecting drop links during routine suspension servicing.

Why Replacement Matters

A worn rear drop link can significantly affect suspension performance and vehicle stability.

Benefits of replacement include:

  • Improved handling precision
  • Reduced suspension noise
  • Better cornering stability
  • Improved steering feel
  • Reduced body roll
  • Enhanced driver confidence
  • Restored suspension performance
  • Improved overall driving dynamics

Replacing worn suspension components helps maintain the factory handling characteristics Porsche engineered into the 993 platform.

The ideal swaybar (anti roll bar) is completely unloaded at static ride height. Stock drops links almost always preload the swaybar since the car doesn't sit perfectly level due to asymmetries such as driver weight. Our front and rear adjustable-length drop links for C4/C2 allow you to eliminate preload of the swaybar for maximum performance.

A preloaded swaybar shifts the weight carried by each of the tires, increasing grip on weighted tires at the expense of decreasing grip on un-weighted tyres. This shifted weight/grip causes uneven handling in left and right turns, and premature brake lockup since the less-loaded tire locks up first. Preload can be completely eliminated by adjusting drop link length and swaybar performance optimized.

About Drop Links & Bushes REAR

Porsche Rear Anti-Roll Bar Drop Links & Bushes | Design911 Suspension Components for Stability & Precision Handling

Rear anti-roll bar drop links and bushes are key suspension components that connect your Porsche’s rear anti-roll bar to the suspension arms and chassis. They help control body roll, maintain balance, and improve grip during cornering and acceleration. Working together, these parts ensure that your Porsche remains stable and responsive, whether on the road, track, or during spirited driving.

At Design911, we stock a full range of rear anti-roll bar drop links and bushes, designed for strength, flexibility, and precision fitment. Each component is crafted from high-quality steel, alloy, rubber, or polyurethane materials to provide optimal performance and long-term durability. Perfect for routine maintenance, restorations, or performance upgrades, our components restore control, comfort, and the legendary Porsche handling feel.

What Do Rear Anti-Roll Bar Drop Links & Bushes Do?

Rear drop links and bushes work as connection points that allow the anti-roll bar to stabilise your Porsche during cornering.

Core Functions:
• Connect the rear anti-roll bar to the suspension arms and chassis.
• Reduce body roll and improve rear-end stability.
• Enhance traction and balance under load or acceleration.
• Ensure smooth and predictable handling in all conditions.
• Minimise vibration, noise, and chassis movement.

Together, these components keep your Porsche composed and confident, delivering optimal cornering precision and road feedback.

Why Do Rear Anti-Roll Bar Drop Links & Bushes Fail or Degrade?

Because they operate under constant motion and stress, these components naturally wear out over time.

Common Causes of Failure Include:
• Cracked or perished rubber bushes causing excessive movement.
• Corrosion or fatigue in metal link rods.
• Loose or damaged mounting bolts or bushings.
• Exposure to heat, moisture, and debris accelerating deterioration.
• Polyurethane bushes losing elasticity after prolonged use.

When rear anti-roll bar links or bushes fail, handling may feel unstable or noisy, with increased body roll, uneven traction, or vibration through the chassis.

Why Replace or Upgrade Your Porsche Rear Anti-Roll Bar Drop Links & Bushes?

Replacing worn rear anti-roll bar links and bushes restores suspension geometry and overall chassis stability. Performance upgrades offer sharper handling, reduced roll, and improved responsiveness.

Key Benefits:
• Restores Porsche’s precise handling and stability.
• Reduces unwanted body roll and suspension noise.
• Improves traction and balance during acceleration and cornering.
• Available in rubber and performance-grade polyurethane materials.
• Fits Porsche 911, 944, 968, Boxster, Cayman, Cayenne, and Macan models.
• Ideal for servicing, performance tuning, or restoration projects.

Design911’s Porsche rear anti-roll bar drop links and bushes provide premium quality and precision fitment, helping you maintain control, comfort, and performance in every driving scenario.

Highlights

• Premium Porsche rear anti-roll bar links and bushes.
• High-strength steel and polyurethane construction.
• Reduces vibration, flex, and rear-end instability.
