NOTE: This is a muffler bypass, straight pipe exhaust system that is racing oriented and built to save maximum weight from the rearmost area of a GT3 and make power. High quality T304 Stainless steel equal length headers C.N.C. mandrel bent, computer numerical controlled mandrel bending equipment. The headers come complete with the provision for the before and after lambda sensors. As the vehicle will not be using the reading from these sensors the ECU will need to be re-programmed or re-mapped.

Fabspeed Sport Headers.

The Fabspeed Sport Headers are a high-performance replacement for the factory exhaust manifolds and catalytic converter assemblies on the 2006–2009 Porsche 997 GT3 and GT3 RS.

Fits:

• Porsche 997 MK1 GT3 / GT3 RS 2006-09

Designed to improve exhaust flow throughout the engine's operating range, these headers use high-velocity 3-into-1 merge collectors to combine exhaust gases efficiently before they pass through the supplied 200-cell HJS Sport Catalytic Converters.

The system is manufactured from high-quality 14–16 gauge CNC mandrel-bent stainless steel, providing excellent resistance to heat, corrosion and repeated thermal cycling.

Fabspeed reports gains of approximately 22 horsepower and 37 lb-ft of torque, together with a 2 lb reduction in weight compared with the factory arrangement. Actual results will vary depending on vehicle condition, specification and operating conditions.

What This Product Does:
The exhaust headers collect combustion gases leaving the engine cylinders and direct them into the remainder of the exhaust system.

Efficient header design is particularly important on the naturally aspirated GT3 engine because exhaust pulse timing and scavenging influence how effectively the cylinders can clear spent gases and draw in the next intake charge.

The Fabspeed Sport Headers are designed to:

• Improve exhaust gas flow
• Reduce restriction compared with the factory header and catalyst arrangement
• Improve exhaust scavenging
• Increase throttle response
• Support increased horsepower and torque
• Produce a stronger sports-car exhaust note

The 3-into-1 pyramidal merge collectors are designed to combine the exhaust pulses from each cylinder bank smoothly, helping maintain gas velocity and reduce turbulence.

Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
The original headers and catalytic converters operate under extreme temperatures and experience repeated expansion and contraction throughout their service life.

Common signs of deterioration include:

• Ticking or tapping noises during cold starts
• Blowing or hissing sounds from the exhaust manifold area
• Black soot around leaking header joints
• Cracks in the manifold or welds
• Warped mounting flanges
• Broken or corroded mounting hardware
• Exhaust fumes around the engine or rear of the vehicle
• Increased exhaust noise
• Reduced throttle response
• Noticeable loss of engine performance
• Check Engine Light relating to catalyst efficiency
• Metallic rattling from inside a catalytic converter
• Sulphur-like or unusual exhaust smells
• Increased exhaust restriction

• Excessive heat around the catalyst area

A catalytic converter can also deteriorate internally. The substrate may crack, melt or break apart, potentially restricting the exhaust path.

Why Replacement Matters:
A damaged or leaking exhaust header reduces the efficiency of the exhaust system and can allow extremely hot gases to escape into surrounding areas.

Cracks or leaking flanges can cause:

• Unwanted exhaust noise
• Reduced exhaust scavenging
• Heat exposure to surrounding components

• Further deterioration of exhaust joints and hardware

A deteriorating catalytic converter can be equally problematic.

The DesignTek Sport Center Section system is a direct bolt on replacement center section which reduces weight, improves sound and offers a mild increase in performance. Porsche has done a wonderful job with the design and manufacture of the factory system with virtually no improvement to be made by installing a complete (mufflers, headers and cats) aftermarket system.

Direct bolt on replacement center section with dual 3.5 stainless tips (factory offers dual 3"). The system is made of mandrel bent T304 stainless tubing which is TIG welded and features a proprietary megaphone design to improve sound in the upper RPM range. The system saves over 14 lbs of weight over the stock ( stock gt3) and (5 lbs over GT3RS with Ti muffler), power is up 3-5 hp on average and now the sound is finally worthy of this magnificent engine.
