Kit Contents

This complete front brake package includes:

  • 2 x Zimmermann Front Brake Discs
  • 1 x Zimmermann Front Brake Pad Set
  • 2 x Front Brake Pad Warning Wires

Everything required to complete a professional front brake overhaul.

What Do the Components Do?

Front Brake Discs
The front brake discs rotate with the wheels and provide the friction surface for the brake pads. During braking they convert the vehicle's kinetic energy into heat, which is rapidly dissipated through the disc to deliver consistent braking performance, minimise brake fade and maintain driver confidence.

Front Brake Pad Set
Zimmermann brake pads are manufactured using advanced friction materials that provide excellent stopping power, progressive pedal feel and low noise levels. Designed to work perfectly with Formula Z brake discs, they offer consistent braking performance while helping to minimise brake dust and disc wear.

Front Brake Pad Warning Wires
The brake pad warning wires continuously monitor brake pad thickness. Once the friction material reaches its minimum safe level, the sensor contacts the brake disc and activates the dashboard brake warning light, allowing the pads to be replaced before damage occurs to the brake discs.

Together, these components ensure safe, predictable braking performance for both everyday driving and enthusiastic road use.

Why Do Brake Components Wear Out?

Brake discs, brake pads and wear sensors are consumable service items that gradually wear during normal operation. Common causes include:

  • Continuous friction between the brake pads and discs.
  • High temperatures generated during braking.
  • Natural reduction in brake disc thickness.
  • Brake pad friction material wearing away.
  • Surface corrosion after prolonged vehicle storage.
  • Repeated heavy braking or spirited driving.
  • Heat cycling leading to disc distortion or pad glazing.
  • Brake pad warning wires activating at the end of pad life.

Driving style, mileage and road conditions all influence brake component lifespan.

Why Replace the Complete Kit?

Replacing the complete brake package offers several important advantages:

  • Restores maximum braking performance.
  • Ensures correct bedding-in between new discs and pads.
  • Eliminates uneven wear between old and new components.
  • Replaces worn brake pad warning sensors.
  • Improves brake pedal feel and modulation.
  • Reduces the risk of brake vibration and unwanted noise.
  • Lowers future labour costs by replacing all service items together.
  • Maintains the highest levels of braking safety and reliability.

Replacing only individual components can compromise braking performance and shorten the service life of new parts.

When Should the Kit Be Replaced?

A complete front brake service is recommended if you experience:

  • Brake pad warning light illuminated.
  • Brake discs worn below the manufacturer's minimum thickness.
  • Heavy scoring or grooves on the braking surface.
  • Brake vibration or steering wheel judder.
  • Squealing or grinding noises during braking.
  • Reduced braking performance.
  • Heat cracks or excessive corrosion.
  • During scheduled brake maintenance.

For optimum performance, brake discs, brake pads and warning wires should always be replaced together.
