Diagram Ref No. 5

Rather than replacing the complete prop shaft assembly, this OE Match repair provides a cost-effective solution that restores the original performance and refinement of your Porsche.

What Does the Cardan Prop Driveshaft Flex Disc (Guibo) Do?

The flex disc, commonly known as a guibo, is a reinforced rubber coupling fitted between the transmission and the prop shaft. It performs several vital functions within the driveline, including:

  • Transmitting engine torque smoothly to the prop shaft.
  • Absorbing driveline vibration.
  • Reducing shock loads during acceleration and gear changes.
  • Compensating for minor driveline movement.
  • Protecting the transmission, transfer case and differential from excessive stress.
  • Helping deliver the smooth driving characteristics expected from a Porsche.

Without a healthy flex disc, vibration and driveline harshness can quickly increase.

Why Do Flex Discs (Guibos) Fail?

The flex disc operates under constant torsional load while being exposed to heat, road contamination and age. Over time the reinforced rubber deteriorates due to:

  • Repeated acceleration and torque loading.
  • Heat generated by the drivetrain.
  • Age-related hardening and cracking.
  • Oil contamination from nearby leaks.
  • Off-road or towing use placing additional strain on the driveline.
  • Normal wear after high mileage.

Eventually the rubber begins to split, deform or separate from the internal reinforcement, allowing excessive movement within the prop shaft.

When Should the Flex Disc Be Replaced?

The guibo should be inspected during routine servicing or whenever driveline vibration is present. Replacement is recommended if you notice:

  • Cracks or splits in the rubber.
  • Excessive driveline vibration.
  • Clunking noises during acceleration or gear changes.
  • Judder when pulling away.
  • Visible distortion or separation of the coupling.
  • Excessive movement in the prop shaft.

Many Porsche specialists recommend replacing the flex disc at the first signs of deterioration to prevent damage to the prop shaft, centre bearing, transfer case or transmission.

Why Replacement Matters:
  • The prop shaft support bearing operates continuously under heavy rotational loads while being exposed to vibration, road debris, moisture and changing temperatures. Over time, the bearing can wear, the rubber support can deteriorate and the protective cover boot can split, allowing contaminants to enter and accelerate bearing failure.
  • A worn support bearing can cause driveline vibration, noise and misalignment, placing additional strain on the prop shaft, universal joints, differential and transmission components. Continued operation with a failing bearing can lead to accelerated driveline wear and increasingly costly repairs.
  • Replacing the support bearing and cover boot restores smooth propshaft operation, reduces vibration and protects the driveline from unnecessary wear. The OE Match repair kit provides factory-style fitment, premium-quality components and long-lasting durability, ensuring reliable power transmission, improved driving comfort and the refined performance expected from your Porsche.

Porsche Cayenne Drive Shaft Clamping Bearing Support Mount The ONLY device that can be installed without removing the Drive Shaft from the vehicle

eps

NEW DESIGN, BOLTS NO LONGER SUPPLIED , PLEASE USE EXISTING HARDWARE

Best Selling Product

The innovative Drive Shaft Clamping Center Support (DSCCS) by is the only true Permanent fix to premature bearing support failures. This Patent-Pending device was developed by our team of technicians whom over the course of 2 years were able to create what is now the end-all solution to failing Bearing Supports.
The Clamping Center Support is the ONLY device that can be installed without removing the Drive Shaft from the vehicle or without requiring the disassembly of the Drive Shaft. Why is this so important?
1) By not having to disassemble the Drive Shaft means that NO re-balancing of the shaft is required. All other methods of Bearing Support replacement require this expensive and lengthy procedure. Failure to balance the once disassembled Drive Shaft would result in major vibrations.
2) Our Clamping Bearing Support installs easily to your Drive Shaft, using basic household tools, in less than an hour. This is a Do-it-Yourself repair that will save you very costly repair bills and unnecessary time down. Should you choose to have a professional install it, the labor times will be much less than Drive Shaft replacement or any other method of repair.
The cause of the premature Drive Shaft Support failure is a direct result of too much continuous stress imposed upon the rubber in the mount. This is more the product of the Drive Shaft design than the quality of the rubber material in the mount. Unfortunately, by merely replacing the Bearing Support with another similar rubber mount you can expect much of the same results experienced with the factory rubber mount.

There is only One certain and definite fix.
The EPS Drive Shaft Clamping Center Support for the Porsche Cayenne, Volkswagen Touareg & Audi Q7 takes a completely different approach in solving this, all too common, problem. Getting away from the proven failure-prone solid rubber vibration dampener, we instead use multiple, hollow Silicone Pods. This design is much better equipped to withstand the constant compressing and stretching forces generated while in use. The silicone material also does a much better job of handling the heat and atmospheric conditions located under your vehicle. Even better, although we have over Two Years of use on our test vehicle and the DSCCS is still functioning flawlessly, in the rare event that any of the Pods on the DSCCS fail, they are very easily replaced in minutes.
Key Benefits

Prop Shaft Support (BEARING ONLY).

The Prop Shaft Support (Bearing Only) is a high-quality replacement centre support bearing designed to restore proper support and alignment of the vehicle’s propeller shaft (driveshaft). This bearing is a critical driveline component that helps stabilise the prop shaft as it rotates, reducing unwanted movement, vibration, and noise during acceleration and cruising.

Fits:

  • Porsche 955 Cayenne 3.2L V6 2003-06
  • Porsche 955 Cayenne S 4.5L V8 2003-06
  • Porsche 955 Cayenne Turbo 4.5L 2003-06

  • Porsche 957 Cayenne Turbo / Turbo S 4.8L 2007-10

Fits On To Diagram Ref No 4

Over time, the prop shaft support bearing can wear due to age, constant rotational load, and drivetrain stress. A worn bearing may lead to rumbling noises, vibration through the cabin floor, or knocking sounds under load changes. If left unresolved, excessive prop shaft movement can place additional strain on couplings, joints, and other driveline components.

What This Product Does:
  • Supports the prop shaft to prevent excessive movement
  • Maintains correct shaft alignment during rotation
  • Reduces drivetrain vibration and noise
  • Helps ensure smooth power delivery from gearbox to differential
  • Protects surrounding driveline components from excess strain

Symptoms Of A Failing Prop Shaft Support Bearing:
  • Vibration through the floor, especially under acceleration
  • Driveline rumbling or humming noises
  • Thumping/knocking sounds when pulling away or changing load
  • Shuddering at certain speeds
  • Excessive movement in the prop shaft when inspected
  • Premature wear on CV joints or couplings due to misalignment

Why Replacement Matters:
  • Restore smooth, vibration-free driveline performance
  • Prevent further damage to the prop shaft, couplings, or CV joints
  • Improve driving comfort and reduce noise
  • Maintain safe, reliable drivetrain operation
  • Avoid costly repairs caused by prolonged driveline misalignment

About Cardan Shaft / Prop Shaft

Porsche Cardan Shaft / Prop Shaft | Precision Torque Transfer & Reliability

The cardan shaft (also known as the prop shaft or drive shaft) is a critical drivetrain component that transfers torque from your Porsche’s transmission to the differential, ensuring smooth, efficient power delivery to the driven wheels. Designed to handle high rotational forces and maintain perfect balance, it plays a vital role in drivetrain stability, acceleration, and handling precision.

At Design911, we supply a comprehensive range of high-quality cardan shafts and prop shaft components, engineered to match or exceed original performance standards. Crafted from precision-balanced steel or lightweight alloy materials, these units deliver maximum strength, minimal vibration, and long-term durability for both classic and modern Porsche models.

Whether you’re replacing a worn unit, restoring a vintage drivetrain, or upgrading for track performance, our cardan shafts ensure smooth power transfer, reduced drivetrain noise, and enhanced reliability — engineered for the ultimate Porsche driving experience.

What Does a Cardan Shaft / Prop Shaft Do?

A prop shaft connects your Porsche’s gearbox to the rear or front differential, transmitting rotational power across the drivetrain. It maintains alignment and balance under high-speed operation, compensating for suspension movement and engine torque variation.

Core Functions:

  • Transfers torque from the transmission to the differential.
  • Maintains balance and rotational stability at high speeds.
  • Absorbs drivetrain movement via universal joints and couplings.
  • Minimises vibration and noise through precision balancing.
  • Ensures consistent performance under acceleration and load.

A properly functioning cardan shaft is vital for smooth drivetrain performance, responsive acceleration, and overall vehicle safety.

Why Do Cardan Shafts or Prop Shafts Fail?

Cardan shafts endure extreme rotational forces, temperature fluctuations, and constant mechanical stress — making wear inevitable over time.

Common Causes of Failure Include:

  • Worn universal joints (U-joints) leading to vibration or knocking sounds.
  • Damaged centre bearings causing drivetrain imbalance.
  • Rust and corrosion on the shaft surface or couplings.
  • Imbalanced or bent shafts from impact or hard acceleration.
  • Degraded rubber couplings or flexible joints (guibos).

Neglecting a failing shaft can lead to severe drivetrain vibration, power loss, and even transmission damage, so early inspection and replacement are crucial.

Why Replace or Upgrade Your Porsche Cardan Shaft?

Replacing your worn or damaged cardan shaft restores drivetrain smoothness and safety, while upgrading to a performance-balanced version enhances response, efficiency, and longevity.

Key Benefits:

  • Restores drivetrain balance and smooth torque delivery.
  • Eliminates vibration, clunking, and driveline noise.
  • Prevents damage to transmission and differential components.
  • Improves performance through precision-balanced design.
  • Available for classic and modern Porsche models.
  • High-strength materials ensure long-term reliability.

Perfect for restoration, performance tuning, or regular maintenance, our cardan shafts provide manufacturer-quality fitment and durability for the most demanding conditions.
