These motors are used in side-specific rear parking brake installations.

What This Part Does / Functions
  • Electrically operates the parking brake mechanism.
  • Applies the parking brake when requested by the vehicle.
  • Releases the parking brake when commanded by the control system.
  • Works with the vehicle's electronic parking brake control electronics.
  • Supports secure parking brake engagement.
  • Provides controlled operation of the rear parking brake mechanism.
  • Replaces a faulty, damaged or seized original actuator.
  • Restores correct operation when motor failure has been confirmed.

Why Replace This Part?
Electric parking brake motors are exposed to repeated operation, road contamination, moisture, vibration and temperature changes. Over time, internal electrical or mechanical components may deteriorate, causing the actuator to operate intermittently or fail completely. A faulty EPB motor may prevent the parking brake from applying or releasing correctly and may trigger a warning message on the dashboard.

Replacing the defective component with a Genuine Porsche EPB motor helps restore the original electronic parking brake function.

Common Symptoms of a Faulty EPB
  • Motor Electronic parking brake warning message
  • Parking brake fails to engage.
  • Parking brake fails to release.
  • Intermittent electronic handbrake operation.
  • Abnormal clicking or grinding noises from the rear brake assembly.
  • Parking brake actuator fault codes.
  • Motor does not respond to diagnostic commands.
  • Seized or damaged internal actuator mechanism.
  • Water damage or corrosion at the motor connection.

These symptoms may also result from wiring, control module or mechanical brake faults. Proper diagnosis is recommended before replacement.

When to Replace This Part
  • When diagnostic testing confirms EPB motor failure.
  • If the existing parking brake actuator has seized.
  • When the parking brake fails to apply or release due to motor failure.
  • If the motor housing or electrical connection is damaged
  • During electronic parking brake repairs.
  • When replacing damaged rear parking brake operating components.
  • If the original actuator has suffered moisture or electrical damage.

Where It Fits on the Car
The EPB motor fits within the rear electronic parking brake assembly. It operates the parking brake mechanism in response to commands from the vehicle's electronic parking brake control system. Left-hand and right-hand applications must be identified according to the exact vehicle and installed brake assembly.

About Electric parking brake

Porsche Electric Parking Brake | Design911 Precision Replacement Parts for Safety, Control & Reliability

The electric parking brake (EPB) is a key part of your Porsche’s modern braking system, replacing traditional handbrakes with an electronically controlled mechanism that provides consistent and effortless operation. Using electronic actuators and sensors, it applies and releases brake pressure automatically or via a button, ensuring secure parking and stability on all gradients. When these components fail, warning lights, uneven braking, or parking issues can occur — making prompt replacement essential for safety and peace of mind.

At Design911, we supply a wide selection of electric parking brake components, including actuators, control units, and sensors. Each part is designed for precise integration with your vehicle’s braking and electronic systems, delivering reliability and performance under all driving conditions. Perfect for routine servicing, repairs, or electronic system restorations, our EPB components maintain your Porsche’s convenience, safety, and control.

What Does the Electric Parking Brake Do?

The electric parking brake provides secure vehicle holding power and enhanced driver convenience through an electronically controlled system.

Core Functions:
• Applies and releases the parking brake automatically or via button control.
• Holds the vehicle securely when parked or on steep inclines.
• Integrates with stability and hill-hold systems for added safety.
• Monitors and adjusts braking force using electronic sensors.
• Prevents vehicle roll-back during starts on slopes.

This system combines modern electronics with Porsche’s precision engineering to deliver safety, comfort, and seamless control.

Why Do Electric Parking Brake Components Fail or Degrade?

Like any electronically controlled system, EPB components can experience wear or malfunction over time due to environmental exposure, mechanical wear, or electrical faults.

Common Causes of Failure Include:
• Electronic actuator failure from moisture or corrosion.
• Sticking or seized cables due to contamination or rust.
• Faulty sensors or wiring issues causing dashboard errors.
• Control unit malfunction or signal interruption.
• Mechanical wear within the caliper-integrated mechanism.

When failure occurs, drivers may notice warning lights, reduced braking power, or the inability to engage or release the parking brake — all of which require immediate attention.

Why Replace or Upgrade Your Porsche Electric Parking Brake?

Replacing worn or malfunctioning EPB components restores full electronic control and braking reliability. Design911’s precision-engineered parts are built to ensure compatibility, smooth operation, and long-term dependability across Porsche models.
