2020 Porsche Taycan Packs an Electric Punch

Porsche’s first all-electric production cars unveiling begins, with the announcement of two of three variations of the model. The two which have been made public are the Taycan Turbo and the Taycan Turbo S. They will be priced at £115,858 and £138,826 respectively.

These varients are both the ‘high-performance’ models, with the third being the less powerful ‘standard’ version, which is expected to compete against Tesla’s similar model.

Not only does the Taycan hail the beginning of an inevitable electric future, but it also plans on achieving a carbon-neutral production process. Porsche have invested 6 Billion Euros into these new facilities. Removing ones carbon footprint as a car manufacturer is a challenge, but one that Porsche seems keen to make a reality.

The Taycan Turbo produces a maximum power output of 671bhp on over-boost with launch control enabled. It also produces 850nm of torque. (Top speed electronically limited to 161mph.)

Its bigger brother, the Taycan Turbo S turns the power up to 750bhp on over-boost and 1050nm of torque. Baseline power, however, matches that of the Turbo (617bhp). The top speed is also limited to 161mph.

Considering the pre-production version of the Taycan recently set a new record making it the fasted four-door, all-electric sports car to go round the Nurburgring.

Porsche claims a maximum range of 279 miles on a single full charge of the Taycans battery.
