Little tweak or big statement? Upgrading your 992.

We looked at the Porsche 992 with some reverence when we profiled proud Porsche owner and ‘garagista’, James Vellacot, in this blog. Well, if you’re looking to take your Porsche 992 to the next level, today’s the day. Design911 has everything you need to add more pride to your ride.

Manufacturer IPD has thrown the kitchen sink at this redeveloped aluminum plenum and describes this as an upgrade to ‘elevate this new 9A2 Evo engine head and shoulders above the previous 991.2 model engine.’

Air travel.

With unlimited access to a 992 Carrera S during development and testing, IPD could scrutinize every aspect of both engineering and design in creating the “best-performing plenum possible”. The patented ‘Y’ design optimizes airflow to enhance engine performance and elevate the driving experience for your Carrera 3.0L.

If you’re rolling a 992 produced after 2019, so that’s the Porsche 992 Carrera S Carrera 4, 4S, or S, then do88 has created a performance plenum kit to boost response right across the powerband. It also fits the Porsche 992 Carrera GTS, Carrera 4 GTS and Porsche 992 Turbo.

Intercooler than you?

The same manufacturer, do88, has created “their most complex product ever” which may be a curious selling point but the net gain for drivers of the Porsche 992 Carrera, Carrera 4, and Turbo – as well as the models listed above – can look forward to a performance boost worthy of the name. And you can’t say they’ve not been thorough in developing and manufacturing this intercooler kit for the Porsche 992 Carrera and Carrera 4.

The cores are sourced from renowned motorsport experts Garrett, who have technologies and innovations deployed in more than 130 million vehicles worldwide. Their USP is to increase turbo efficiency while reducing emissions. These cores, for example, are thin with stacked fins, while cast aluminum end tanks help boost airflow while minimizing weight. The thicker core weight is offset by replacing air guides with high-quality carbon ducts. These guys are experts.

Hose sorry now.

It won’t be you if you replace standard-issue brake lines with these high-performance, race-bred street brake lines by Goodridge. Made from the finest quality hose – a PTFE inner hose wrapped in braided stainless steel – these beauties support more responsive, firm braking by eliminating the “spongy” feel that often accompanies stock rubber brake lines. You don’t drive a standard car, so why compromise?

Get some F1 in your life!

Formula One (F1) specifically and motorsports in general are often referenced as launchpads for the technologies that filter down into everyday motoring. These BMC air filters are a great case in point. In F1, BMC cotton filters minimize airflow loss to ensure maximum power.

These are an alloy mesh with an epoxy coating to protect against petrol fumes and humidity-driven oxidization. The filtering material itself is a special cotton gauze soaked with low-viscosity oil to create the best possible air permeability. If that’s important to you – and driving a high-performance car such as the Porsche 992 fits that bracket – swapping out paper filters for BMC cotton air filters makes perfect sense.

Spring is here…

If you’re ready to take things a little lower, then this adjustable Dual Flow Valve (DFV) Technology suspension kit by Ohlins comes complete with all four shocks and springs and the C-Spanner to enable the 10mm drop. Corrosion salt spray tested to ISO 9227 the kit has a 2-year limited warranty. It’s ready to fit any Porsche 992 Carrera and Carrera 4, the Targa, and every model of Turbo.

Make or brake?

Life is all about balance and if you’re going to add a bit more oomph then it makes sense to offset that with additional stopping power. Design911 can help with that. The Pagid racing brakes range includes RSL track racing pads, RSC pads for ceramic discs, and RST racing brake pads. Check each product for compatibility.

Meanwhile, if you drive a 992 C2, C4, C2S, or C4S without PCCB then look at this GiroDisc rotor kit slotted two-piece kit. This system is a straight replacement for the OE disc and requires no modifications as the disc bolts directly to the car and works with the OE calipers perfectly. Our tip – upgrading your brakes with lightweight high-performance replacements as opposed to a big brake kit, maintains your factory bias as well as your ABS efficiency.

Alternatively, if you’re driving the Porsche 992.1, the CS, C4, or C4S then this front assembly only by Zimmermann is a great option, too. The Zimmerman Formula Z brake disc delivers optimum braking through a simple installation. This compound brake disc accommodates the increased demands of high mechanical and thermal loads incurred by engine tuning and optimised chassis structures.

Grille and bear it.

Aesthetics matter, of course, and the big smile of the protective grille on the Porsche 992 is as distinctive a feature as the throaty roar of the engine. These four products by RGS and Zunsport cover every inch of the front intakes, are compatible with many 992 models, and in some cases require no bonnet or bumper removal.

Spoiler alert!

Talking of distinctive, the aerofoil spoilers also contribute to the look we associate with the 992. This kit includes a front spoiler, side skirts, the ducktail rear spoiler, and a diffuser. Last but by no means least are these gnarly-looking front bonnets for the 992 by carbon style. Created to support the GT3 look, there’s a choice of two. One includes materials made from fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP), wet carbon fibre (two sides), and dry carbon fibre. The other is made of polyethylene plastic (PP) throughout with a carbon fibre spoiler.

For every beginning, there’s an end, and this rear bumper assembly by the same manufacturer includes a stainless steel middle exit tailpipe while this rear bumper lower guard bodykit in carbon completes the GT3 look. They fit every 992 body shape and are available to order only. You’ll have to wait a full 12 weeks to take your Porsche 992 to another level.
