Several companies have had an attempt at modifying the 911, to improve the way it looks and drives. Some of the companies that have had a go at this in recent years are Singer and gunterwerks. One of the most legendary brands to modify Porsches is RUF. The brand has been an iconic name in the Porsche space, they have been tuning 911 models since the 80s.

RUF does take a rather different approach to taking an older 911 and modernising it. Singer and gunterwerks build the car from the ground up, stripping the car down to its bare metal. RUF takes a regular 993 turbo and turns the dial up to 11. This is one of their latest creations, the Turbo R.
The car was introduced in 2016 at the Geneva motor show, and it shocked the world with its performance. The car made 490HP from a 3.6 litre flat 6. And it made an insane 650NM of torque. Which allowed the car to go on to 204MPH. The car also rode on stiffer springs and had larger anti roll bars. And to accommodate the extra speed this car also has larger brakes. The car also had new wheels, and a new body kit, which gave the car a much more aggressive stance.

This isn’t a normal RUF turbo R, it is a turbo R limited. This was a car that was made in only 7 units and cost up to $600,000. The car also made more horsepower over the standard turbo R, 650HP and 750NM of torque, numbers close to the current 992 Turbo S. A car that sends its power to all 4 wheels, vs just the rear wheels in this car. But if this is too much for you, you can option an AWD system.
RUF is a great example of taking the 911 platform and modifying it. A car with a 6-figure price tag isn’t within the reach of everyone. But if you want to own your own modified turbo, we are here to help. We stock a full range of parts, so you can make your own RUF turbo R. Just for a little less.
