Bringing a (nearly) unique and (definitely) classic car back to glory takes patience to stick with it, a vision of what the result should look like, and Design911 to prevent compromising on parts quality. Luckily, we had all three.
The word classic is applied too readily in motoring: discuss. Remember that the same magazine described the Austin Allegro as both a classic, and the worst car ever. So, it’s a subjective view.
A Rare Gem Worth Every Penny
Finding an original 2010 PORSCHE (997) 911 Sport Classic for sale would cost you more than twice the basic list price of £140,543.00. Currently, Porsche Sport Classic models are being sold for over £300,000.00. The build cost is approximately £15,000.00. We meticulously construct this extraordinary vehicle in the “correct color,” which entails a complete respray and color change. Alternatively, we can leave the car in its original color.
The necessary parts include:
-
- Front bumper with lower front spoiler
- Rear Bumper with twin exit for exhaust tips
- Stainless steel Round Design exhaust tail pipes
- Ducktail spoiler with a 3rd brake light
- Roof Section with detailing
- 19″ Fuchs alloy wheels & tires
- Painted yellow brake calipers
- Badges & Decals
- Classic Rear indicators & control units
- Front drive/fog lamps & Side repeaters
If you aim to purchase a car to create this classic 911 look, our best advice is to find a 997 Carrera 4 (C4 with a wide body) without a sunroof, as this will help you save on some parts and labor costs. However, a 997 C2 will also work perfectly. Always allocate a little extra in your budget to cover trim parts like rubber seals or washer jet covers that may bend, break, or snap during the project.
The anti-Allegro?
Make no mistake, the 997 series of the 911 is an end to end classic. Finished in ‘Sport Classic Grey’, it rocks a fuller figure thanks to the wider C4S body, ‘ducktail’ rear spoiler, unique front lip and retro alloy wheels.
Sat on a chassis pack spring and damper rates, a 20mm ride height reduction and a limited-slip differential – all powered on by a 22bhp boost adding up to a lively 402bhp and you’re looking at a lovely sports car. Limit the manufacturing run to 250 cars and boom – it’s a stone cold classic.
So, when the Design911 team got the opportunity to recreate one of these classics with a standard 997 C4, we weren’t short of volunteers, and all the parts were in stock. Here’s what we did.
First things first.
The front end needed the classic look front bumper with lower spoiler kit. Suddenly the 911 has the retro classic look – think 1973 RS 911. Once you add these beefed-up exterior mirror housings – you’ll need to add your own paint – your front end is looking good. They just bolt on what’s already there. We have options for both RHD and LHD cars, too.

Mesh it up..
You’ll need to add these bad boys, four 19″ classic style 170C, alloy wheels with a highly polished rim, black face and spokes, they augment the new body style beautifully. Take a look. Details matter on a Porsche, and these 100cm x 40cm aluminium black meshes are finished in a ‘Diamond’ style to make your car sparkle. Pesky extra brake light ruining the 997 vibe on your 911? We have a fix for that, too. Blanking panels this way.

Spoiler alert!
Finish at the end. Add the 997 rear bumper to complete the look and consider fitting a classic look Ducktail rear spoiler from Design911 – view the collection here. Meanwhile, your tailpipes will gleam under the exhaust body kit. We can also help you see the light with replacement indicator lamps. Mean and roofless? We can fix that. Want to go the whole nine yards – it’s just a click away. This is the full body kit. It’s all here; the front bumper, front lower splitter spoiler, the front centre retaining frame, both LH and RH front bumper grilles – even the tail pipes are in there. And there’s a discount right now. Just sayin’.
See for yourself!
Oh, and we took some cracking photos of the work in progress, too. They’re on the project cars page, this way.
