We sat down with Dave, who is the Business Development Manager at Quaife Engineering and has been with the company for 10 years. He started in the sales department taking sales orders and interacting with customers, then worked his way up to sales manager. He has been a business development manager for the past two years.

In road applications, an open differential is usually installed in a car. This means that when driving around a corner, the inside wheel travels a shorter distance than the outside wheel and if the car is going too fast, the inside wheel may spin and lose traction. The ATB Differential aims to use traction on the outside wheel to increase grip and allow for faster cornering. Losing traction on one wheel in a Porsche often leads to the back end kicking out, making the car slower in the corner.

Quaife Engineering has two sites, one in Seven Oaks and one in Gillingham. The Gillingham site, which is around 30,000 sqft, is where the majority of the ATB Differentials are manufactured, operating 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. Quaife is best known for manufacturing differentials, but they also offer a range of products including sequential gearboxes, h-pattern gear kits, dog engagement HP pattern gear kits, uprights, steering racks and even products for stairlifts.
