Another key differentiator of the Porsche 996 was the introduction of Carbon fibre-reinforced silicon carbide (C/SiC) composite ceramic brakes (PCCB) as a standard option rather than optional extra. A true innovation at the time, they were specific to the brake pads and discs of high-performance roadsters.
