The door stay mechanism often tends to tear and rip the sheet metal inside the door over many year of use, damaging both the door and also potentially the fender. This reinforcement kit is designed for use with later-style door stays that have integrated nuts. Early-style door stays with integrated studs are too short and will need modification to work with this kit.

This reinforcement kit provides a practical solution for strengthening vulnerable door stay mounting points and repairing suitable existing damage, helping prevent further deterioration and potentially avoiding costly door replacement.

What Does the Door Stay Reinforcement Kit Do?

The kit reinforces the sheet metal surrounding the door stay mounting point, helping distribute the forces generated when the door is opened and closed.

It can be fitted as a preventative upgrade or used to repair suitable damaged mounting areas, restoring support to the door stay mechanism.

Why Does the Original Door Stay Mounting Fail?

Repeated operation places considerable stress on the thin metal surrounding the door stay.

Over time, this can result in:

Cracking around the door stay mounting holes Torn or distorted internal door sheet metal Loose or unstable door stay mechanisms Excessive door movement or unusual clicking noises Potential damage to the adjacent wing if the door opens beyond its intended limit

When Should It Be Fitted?
