Engineered with high-strength steel arms and precision-machined bore geometry, the OE Match version replicates the original Porsche dimensions, spline or tab fits, and durability. It ensures accurate steering response and restores safe, play-free coupling between rack and rod.
• Location: At the end of the tie rod or steering rack linkage, connecting via a ball joint or pivot.
• Function: Holds the tie rod end or joint in place, allowing articulation while securely steering linkage motion.
• Symptoms of Failure: Steering play, looseness, knocking, uneven tire wear
• Benefits: Restores tight steering feel, OE fitment, high strength, and accurate geometry
• Installation: Direct-fit replacement; install with new fasteners and verify alignment
Over time, the original tie rod joint fork may wear at pivot surfaces, stretch, or suffer metal fatigue, leading to steering play, misalignment, or knocking under load. Replace this fork during steering rack or tie rod replacement, when you detect lateral play or looseness, or as part of a full steering system overhaul to restore crisp, safe steering response.

Fits:
Porsche 911 1965 - 1989 (Not Turbo)
Porsche 914 1970 - 1976
Diagram Ref No 3.
• Location: Inner ends of both tie rods (left and right), attached to the steering rack
• Function: Transmits steering movement from the rack to the tie rods, ensuring accurate front-wheel response
• Installation: Direct replacement – fits original rack and tie rod assembly
Over time, the inner tie rod joints or bushings can wear, causing steering play, vibration, or alignment drift.
Replace when you notice:
• Steering looseness or rattling
• Uneven tire wear Vibration or “wandering” at speed
• Excessive movement when inspecting inner tie rod ends
Installing new inner joints restores tight steering precision, proper tracking, and the responsive handling feel expected from a Porsche.

This adjustable lever replaces the factory throttle bell crank mounted on the gearbox side, offering a superior alternative.
With an adjustable angle and lever length, you can fine-tune throttle motion for optimal performance and ensure full throttle engagement, when was the last time you checked yours?
Built for precision and smooth operation, it features bronze bushings riding on a machined shoulder bolt, eliminating the factory’s plastic bushings and sloppy cotter pin fit. The difference is noticeable underfoot.
Over the years, the factory has produced numerous bell crank variations, making it difficult to find the correct one—especially with swapped parts. This upgrade replaces them all!
It also enhances throttle response and allows adjustment of low-throttle progression for a more controlled driving experience.

Upgrade the front steering linkage of your classic Porsche with this high-performance, increased-length track rod assembly offering +38 mm extra length. Designed for the Porsche 911 (1969-89) and 914 (1970-76) with lowered ride height or modified front suspension geometry, this rod gives the necessary adjustment range to maintain proper steering geometry, eliminate binding and improve thread engagement. Ideal for road, performance or track use, this assembly provides extra flexibility, precision and durability for suspension-modified vehicles.

What This Product Does:
- The track rod (tie rod) connects the steering rack to the steering knuckle/steering arm, allowing the front wheels to respond to steering input. In classic 911/914 cars the standard length is optimised for standard ride height and steering geometry.
- When you lower a vehicle, change front ride height, fit stiffer springs, wider tyres or change front geometry, the original tie rod length may no longer maintain correct rod end engagement, steering rack to knuckle alignment, or sufficient thread engagement for safe mounting.
- An increased-length track rod gives extra adjustment range and corrects for the altered vertical/horizontal geometry by providing extra length, which helps maintain correct steering geometry, avoid binding, ensure full thread engagement, and reduce bump-steer or misalignment under load.
- Specifically the +38 mm version provides considerably more length than standard, giving more flexibility for extreme lowering or wide tyres/modified front hubs.
Symptoms & Signs You Might Need It:
- After lowering the front ride height significantly, the original tie rods are too short (leading to lack of adjustment, bound joints, or risk of insufficient thread engagement).
- Steering geometry issues such as bump-steer, uneven tyre wear, or altered steering feel (e.g., the front wheels feel unstable, wander, or kick in bumps) – these can be caused by improper tie-rod length relative to wheel/knuckle geometry.
- Visual inspection: the tie-rod ends are near the limit of adjustment (either fully extended or fully retracted), or the threads of the original rods are nearing their limit.
- You are running a performance setup (wider tyres, different hubs, lowered suspension) where the standard rod length restricts your alignment or fine-tuning.
- If one side of the front geometry is different (e.g., due to camber adjustment or lowered on one side) and standard rods don’t allow symmetric correction.
Why This Upgrade Matters:
- Preserves steering geometry: With modified suspension or ride height, correct rod length is essential to maintain proper steering rack to knuckle relationship, avoid undue forces, ensure proper articulation and reduce wear on joints.
- Improves safety and precision: Ensuring that the tie-rod ends have sufficient thread engagement and correct length helps avoid failure or undesirable steering behaviour under load.
- Supports performance modifications: If you’ve lowered the car, increased front negative camber, fitted wider tyres or track-prepared it, the standard rods often become a compromise — an increased-length rod restores capacity and tuning range.
- Reduces bump-steer/inconsistent behaviour: By allowing correct geometry under lowered height, the longer rod helps reduce unintended toe change under suspension movement, improving steadiness.
- Restoration/fitment: For highly modified or custom builds (wheels, track width, hub offsets) this rod gives the flexibility to adapt without resorting to custom rod making.

The steering rack controls the front wheels by means of two track rods, terminated by replaceable joints - the "Track Rod Ends", attached to the swivel hubs. These will eventually wear, leading to problems with steering and handling, as well as being a failure point on the UK MOT and presumably on the statutory inspections in other countries.

Common Porsche Steering Issues
Even the best-engineered Porsche components
experience wear over time. Common steering problems include:
- Low Power Steering Fluid- A frequent cause of heavy or unresponsive steering. Topping up fluid restores smoothness, but continual loss may indicate a leak.
- Power Steering Leaks - If topping up fluid doesn’t solve the issue, check for leaks. Power steering fluid is usually clear or pink — look for patches under your car when parked.
- Failing Steering Rack Mounts - Modern Porsches use rack-and-pinion systems. When rack bushings wear out, symptoms include - Jerky steering when going over bumps, Inconsistent wheel feel and Clunking, clicking, or popping noises in the column
If you notice any of these issues, it’s important to get your Porsche inspected by a specialist to prevent further damage.
Diagnosing & Replacing Porsche Steering Components
Steering issues are not always easy to diagnose without specialist knowledge. Our advice: book in with a Porsche specialist garage for a full inspection. They can pinpoint whether the issue is with the rack, joints, bushings, or hydraulics.
If replacement is required, our website makes it simple. Select your Porsche model and year, and we’ll filter the catalogue to show only compatible steering spares for your car.
