Fits:
Porsche 964 1989-94 all
Porsche 993 1995-98 all

High Density front control arm bushings eliminate vibration often caused by aging OEM units, and better maintain steering feel under heavy acceleration and braking. These bushings replace the foreword and rearword bushings in the front control arm of 993s and 964s. Featuring teflon lined spherical bearings, and weather seals, our units reduce suspension deflection under load resulting in a crisper and more direct steering feel. Street and track car owners alike will enjoy a more planted and precise front end.

What This Product Does:

  • In place of soft rubber bushings, the monoball bearings provide a rigid, low-deflection pivot for the control arms, while still allowing the required angular motion (rotation / articulation) of the suspension.
  • Because spherical bearings respond with minimal deflection, the control arm geometry (camber, toe) remains more consistent under load (cornering, braking, acceleration).
  • The rigid nature of monoballs helps maintain steering precision and sharper feedback by eliminating rubber compliance (i.e. “mushy” behavior) that would otherwise absorb inputs or distort geometry.
  • The Teflon lining ensures smooth motion with minimal friction and wear inside the bearing.

Symptoms Of Worn Or Failing Rubber Bushings:
  • Looseness or “play” in steering / feeling soft in the front suspension
  • “Wobble” or slight deflection under hard cornering or directional changes
  • Changes in alignment under load — e.g. toe or camber drifting
  • Poor steering feedback, especially over undulations or when pushing the car
  • Vibration, harshness, or unwanted compliance in suspension response

Why Upgrading To Monoball Matters:
  • Sharper steering response & feedback — no rubber compliance dulling input
  • Better alignment retention under load — more consistent camber / toe through suspension travel
  • Greater precision in handling, especially during cornering, transitions, or high lateral forces
  • Less geometry distortion when pushing the car hard or under braking
  • Durability under load — well-made monoball bushings resist deformation better than aged or overworked rubber
  • Ideal for motorsport / track setups where predictability and consistency matter more than comfort

Front Control Arm Front Bushing, Sport Hardness (Forward Position).
Upgrade your Porsche’s front suspension with this Front Control Arm Front Bushing – Sport Hardness.
Designed for Porsche 964 and 993 models, this bushing replaces the factory front mount of the lower control arm, providing a stiffer, more durable connection between the wishbone and subframe.
The sport hardness compound (approximately 25% stiffer than stock rubber) minimizes unwanted flex and maintains consistent alignment under load. The result is improved cornering stability, sharper steering response, and better feedback without significantly compromising ride comfort.

What This Product Does:
  • The bushing is the interface between the control arm and the subframe / mounting point.
  • It permits controlled movement (for suspension travel) while resisting unwanted motion so the wheel alignment remains stable.
  • The firmer (sport) version deflects less under cornering, braking, or acceleration loads, helping maintain alignment geometry under load.
  • By resisting deflection, it helps reduce unwanted movement in the front suspension, improving handling precision and steering feedback.

Symptoms Of A Worn / Failing Bushing:
  • Vibration felt in the steering wheel, especially under certain loads or speeds (“shudderiness”)
  • Looseness / play in the front suspension — less precise steering response
  • Alignment changes under load — the front toe may drift during cornering or braking
  • Clunking or knocking noises over bumps or from the front suspension
  • Uneven or increased tire wear, especially on the front edges
  • A degraded “feel” to the front end — less sharpness or a vague response in turns

Why The Sport Hardness Version Matters:
  • Better control under load: Because this bushing is stiffer than stock, it deflects less in aggressive driving, helping maintain suspension geometry (camber / toe) more accurately in dynamic conditions.
  • Sharper steering feel: Less compliance means more direct response, reducing mushiness in the front end.
  • Reduced suspension movement / slop: Particularly helpful in performance, track, or spirited road use where loads are higher.
  • Longer service life (in some cases): A harder compound may resist aging and fatigue better in high-stress conditions, though it may transmit slightly more noise, vibration compared to softer rubber.
  • It still retains enough flexibility to absorb some road input, balancing performance with comfort.

About Control Arms Front

Front Control Arms – Precision Steering and Suspension Control

Front control arms are critical suspension components that locate the front wheels, control suspension geometry and maintain precise steering alignment. By connecting the chassis to the wheel hub, control arms manage camber, caster and toe movement throughout suspension travel, directly influencing handling stability, steering response and tyre wear.

At Design911, we offer front control arms ranging from OE-spec replacements to performance upgrades from trusted suspension brands. Whether replacing worn factory arms or upgrading to adjustable or reinforced designs, front control arms are essential for restoring sharp handling and improving front-end confidence.

What Do Front Control Arms Do?

Front control arms form a key part of the suspension system, allowing controlled vertical movement of the wheels while keeping them correctly aligned. Their main functions include:

  • Maintaining correct wheel alignment and geometry
  • Supporting steering precision and stability
  • Controlling suspension movement under braking and cornering Isolating road impacts while maintaining control

They work together with bushes, ball joints and dampers to ensure predictable handling and consistent tyre contact with the road.

Why Upgrade or Replace Front Control Arms?

Upgrading front control arms is beneficial because it offers:

  • Restored or improved steering accuracy
  • Reduced unwanted suspension flex under load
  • Improved tyre wear and alignment stability
  • Enhanced feedback during spirited driving

Performance control arms may feature uprated bushes, stronger materials or adjustable geometry, allowing fine-tuning for fast-road or track-focused setups.

When Should You Replace Front Control Arms?

Front control arms should be replaced or upgraded when:

  • Ball joints or bushes are worn, cracked or noisy
  • Steering feels vague or unstable
  • Uneven tyre wear is present
  • Performing a suspension refresh or performance upgrade
  • Alignment cannot be set correctly

Replacing worn control arms restores proper suspension geometry and significantly improves handling confidence.

At Design911, our front control arms meet OE or performance standards to support reliable servicing and enthusiast-level upgrades.
