Porsche 993 Turbo - oil pump to tank
Optimised shape to prevent backflow to the turbocharger oil tank. Manufactured in high quality stainless steel pipe, these oil lines prevent oil from flowing back to the turbocharger, which leads to excessive oil burning and smoking after long idle time

DesignTek’s Stage 1 twin turbo upgrade service converts customer-supplied Porsche 993 911 GT2 turbochargers to MD435 & MD436 hybrid specifications. Complete turbochargers are not included.
How the Service Works
Provide your current turbocharger pair for the upgrade work. Alternatively, obtain new turbochargers separately and arrange their modification independently; buying those units does not include this service.
Fits
- Platform reference: 993 (911) (1994–1998)
- Model reference: 993 (911) GT2 1994–97
- Porsche 911 (993) GT2, engine code 993USTGTR2, year 1995-1999, OEM number 99312301382
The platform dates, model dates and detailed turbo application differ. Verify the vehicle identification and fitted turbocharger references before commissioning modification. Check fitment for your specific vehicle (model, year, engine) before ordering.
What This Product Does
This is modification work on a supplied pair, rather than an outright turbocharger purchase. The Stage 1 specification involves changes to compressor wheels, matching housing profiles, turbine wheels and sealing components.
Functions
- Applies MD435 & MD436 hybrid specifications to the supplied units.
- Adapts compressor covers for the revised wheel profiles.
- Modifies both turbochargers for paired installation.
Technical Details
- Stage 1 hybrid references: MD435 & MD436.
- Modified high-flow compressor wheels and correspondingly reprofiled compressor covers.
- Modified, lightened exhaust turbine wheels.
- Motorsport-specification blueprinting and twin piston-ring sealing.
- Replacement references listed: 5316-970-6736 & 5316-970-6735.
- Listed engine-output estimate: 600-650 bhp, subject to supporting modifications and suitable engine-management calibration.
These Hybrid Turbos must be fitted as a pair.
The output estimate is not a promise of results from modification alone. The complete engine configuration and its calibration determine the outcome.
Symptoms of Fault
Investigate blue exhaust smoke, unusual whining, rising oil consumption, slow boost build-up or erratic boost delivery before proceeding. Similar behaviour can arise from leaking hoses, restricted lubrication or boost-control faults, so symptoms alone do not establish turbocharger failure.
Why Replacement Matters
An upgrade is not a remedy for an unresolved mechanical problem. Have the existing units assessed and inspect their oil supply, return lines, intake connections and control hardware. Any underlying fault should be corrected, with calibration matched to the finished engine specification.
FAQs
- Does the service provide a new turbocharger pair?
No. The work is carried out on units you provide, whether existing or separately purchased. - Is modification included when buying new turbochargers?
No. New-unit purchase and upgrade work are separate arrangements. - Is the stated output assured?
No. The 600-650 bhp figure is an estimate dependent on the engine configuration, supporting hardware and calibration.

Turbochargers, Intercoolers & Parts – Precision-Engineered Performance for Porsche Engines
A turbocharger increases your Porsche’s power and efficiency by forcing more air into the engine’s combustion chamber, while the intercooler cools that compressed air to improve performance and reliability. Together, these components deliver the exhilarating acceleration and responsiveness that define Porsche engineering.
At Design911, we offer a comprehensive selection of turbochargers, intercoolers, and related components for Porsche models old and new. Manufactured using high-grade materials and advanced balancing technology, our range ensures consistent boost pressure, superior cooling efficiency, and long-term durability under extreme conditions.
Whether you’re restoring a classic 911 Turbo, upgrading a Cayman for track use, or replacing worn components on a modern model, our high-quality turbo and intercooler parts guarantee unmatched performance and reliability.
What Do Turbochargers & Intercoolers Do?
Turbochargers and intercoolers work together to enhance engine power, efficiency, and response.
Core Functions:
- Turbocharger:
Compresses intake air to increase the engine’s air/fuel ratio, producing
greater power.
- Intercooler:
Reduces the temperature of compressed air before it enters the engine,
improving combustion and preventing knock.
- Associated Parts: Turbo hoses, valves, clamps, and cooling lines maintain consistent boost pressure and reliable airflow.
Together, these systems optimise power delivery, throttle response, and engine longevity — key to achieving Porsche’s hallmark driving experience.
Why Do Turbochargers & Intercoolers Fail?
Turbo and intercooler systems operate under extreme temperatures and pressure. Over time, wear and heat cycling can cause performance degradation or failure.
Common Causes of Failure Include:
- Oil
contamination or starvation damaging the turbo bearings.
- Boost
leaks from worn seals, cracked hoses, or gaskets.
- Intercooler
clogging due to debris or oil residue.
- Excessive
exhaust temperatures leading to turbine damage.
- Corrosion or heat fatigue from prolonged high-speed driving.
Symptoms of failure include whining noises, loss of power, blue or black exhaust smoke, poor boost response, or oil leaks around the turbo system. Addressing these early can prevent costly repairs and maintain performance.
Why Replace Components?
Replacing a worn turbocharger or intercooler with a precision-engineered, high-performance alternative restores full boost pressure, temperature control, and efficiency — ensuring your Porsche performs as intended.
Key Benefits:
- Restores boost pressure and throttle response.
- Improves air cooling and power delivery.
- Prevents oil and boost leaks.
- Constructed from lightweight, heat-resistant materials.
- Direct-fit
compatibility for Porsche 911, Cayman, Boxster, Macan, Panamera and more.
- Ideal for performance upgrades, maintenance, or rebuilds.
High-quality turbo and intercooler components are essential for reliable, sustained performance in both road and track environments.
Highlights:
- Turbochargers, intercoolers & related parts for Porsche models.
- Precision-engineered to enhance airflow, boost, and cooling.
- Heat-resistant construction ensures durability and performance.
- Perfect for maintenance, upgrades, or complete rebuilds.
- Supports Porsche 911, Cayman, Boxster, Panamera and more.
