Fits:

  • Porsche 996 GT2 2001-05
  • Porsche 996 GT3 MKII 2003>>
  • Porsche 996 GT3 RS 2003-04
  • Porsche 997 MK1 GT3 / GT3 RS 2007-09
  • Porsche 997 MK1 GT2 2007-09
  • Porsche 997 MKII GT3 / GT3 RS 2010-11
  • Porsche 997 MKII GT2 RS 2011-13

Developed for demanding road driving and track use, this package combines improved disc cooling and thermal management with a high-friction, fade-resistant brake pad compound. The result is increased stopping performance, consistent pedal feel and greater resistance to the high temperatures generated during repeated heavy braking.

Not compatible with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) discs.

What Does the Package Include?

The package combines:

  • Two-piece floating front brake disc assemblies
  • Slotted high-carbon iron rotor rings
  • CNC-machined aluminium bells/hats
  • 9M fast road / trackday front brake pads

The discs and pads have been selected to work together as a performance-focused braking package for fast-road, trackday and competition applications.

Two-Piece Floating Front Brake Discs

The 9M front discs use a two-piece floating construction with a high-carbon cast iron friction ring mounted to a lightweight aluminium bell.

The floating arrangement allows controlled movement between the rotor and bell as temperatures increase, helping accommodate thermal expansion and reduce stress within the disc assembly.

Benefits include:

  • Improved thermal management
  • Reduced risk of heat-related distortion
  • Reduced tendency towards brake vibration
  • Consistent performance during repeated heavy braking
  • Lightweight aluminium centre bell
  • Improved cooling compared with conventional disc designs

72-Vane Cooling System

Each rotor features 72 internal cooling vanes designed to move air efficiently through the disc.

This increased airflow helps dissipate heat generated under braking, making the system particularly suited to repeated high-speed stops during spirited road driving and track use.

CM-250 High-Carbon Iron Rotors

The rotor rings are manufactured from CM-250 formulated high-carbon alloy cast iron, providing strength and durability at elevated operating temperatures.

Each rotor ring is heat treated to relieve internal material stresses, helping maintain dimensional stability and reduce the possibility of deformation and vibration through repeated heating and cooling cycles.

CNC-Machined Aluminium Bells

The centre bells are CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminium before being hard anodised for increased surface protection and durability.

The aluminium construction also helps reduce rotating and unsprung mass compared with an equivalent one-piece iron disc.

9M Fast Road / Trackday Brake Pads

The package includes 9M performance front brake pads developed to complement the upgraded iron discs.

The low-metallic, resin-bonded friction material contains steel and aramid fibres and provides a high coefficient of friction of approximately 0.55.

The compound combines strong stopping power with excellent modulation, predictable release characteristics and high resistance to brake fade.

Fast Road & Trackday Performance

During repeated heavy braking, conventional road pads can exceed their optimum operating temperature and begin to lose effectiveness.

The 9M compound is designed to maintain consistent braking characteristics throughout its effective temperature range, providing a solid and predictable pedal feel during demanding driving.

Benefits include:

  • High coefficient of friction – approximately 0.55
  • Increased stopping performance
  • Excellent fade resistance
  • Consistent braking at elevated temperatures
  • Good pedal modulation
  • Predictable brake release
  • Solid pedal feel
  • Excellent pad and rotor life
  • Suitable for fast-road driving
  • Suitable for high-speed trackdays and competition use

Important PCCB Information

This brake disc and pad package is not compatible with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) discs.

It is intended for vehicles using the appropriate iron/steel braking configuration. Always confirm the brake system fitted to the vehicle before ordering.

Fast Road and Track Brake Upgrades

For Porsche GT models used for fast-road driving and trackdays, upgrading the front discs and pads together provides a more complete approach to improving braking performance.

The 9M package combines floating high-carbon iron discs with a high-friction pad compound, improving heat management, fade resistance, pedal consistency and stopping performance during repeated hard braking.

It is particularly suited to Porsche 996 GT2, 996.2 GT3, 997 GT3 and GT3 RS owners looking for a matched front brake upgrade for performance road driving, trackdays and competition use.

The Girodisc brake rotor is a direct replacement for the OE discs, and provides significant performance benefits. The rotors are compatible with any of the current pads typically used with these cars.

Additional information:

Braking Performance: The rotor is a two-piece design developed in racing to produce a lightweight rotor that can compensate for the different expansion rates between the hat and rotor and eliminate the possibility of rotor warping.

The rotor and hat have a floating mount system, which utilizes 10 high strength alloy steel drive pins, which allows for axial and radial float.

More heat sink without a weight penalty: The Girodisc disc set weights in a little lighter than the OE system but with an important advantage. The rotors have grown in diameter. This means that weight has been transferred from the center hat were it does nothing to the outer diameter where it is actively absorbing and dispersing heat.

High Quality Materials: The Girodisc system uses only the highest quality materials and components. The rotors are high carbon content iron for long wear and stable thermal performance. The top hat section is machined from billet aluminum with an attractive anodized finish.

Designed for demanding road and performance use, the 9M floating disc combines a high-carbon cast iron slotted rotor with a lightweight CNC-machined aluminium bell. The two-piece floating construction allows the rotor to expand more freely as temperatures increase, helping reduce heat-related stress and the risk of distortion.

Why Upgrade to a Two-Piece Floating Brake Disc?

High-performance Porsche braking systems generate considerable heat, particularly during repeated heavy braking.

A floating disc allows controlled movement between the iron rotor and aluminium bell as temperatures change. This helps accommodate thermal expansion and reduces stress within the assembly compared with a rigid one-piece design.

Benefits include:

  • Improved management of thermal expansion
  • Reduced heat transfer into the centre bell
  • Lower risk of heat-related distortion and vibration
  • Consistent braking during repeated heavy use
  • Lightweight aluminium bell construction
  • Replaceable rotor-ring design
  • Suitable for performance road use

72-Vane Cooling Design

Each rotor incorporates 72 internal cooling vanes designed to efficiently move air through the disc.

Improved airflow helps dissipate heat generated during braking, assisting with temperature control during repeated high-speed stops and demanding driving.

CM-250 High-Carbon Iron Rotors

The rotor rings are manufactured from CM-250 formulated high-carbon alloy cast iron, selected for its strength and durability at elevated braking temperatures.

The rotor rings are also heat treated to relieve internal stresses within the material. This helps improve dimensional stability and reduces the likelihood of deformation and vibration through repeated heating and cooling cycles.

Slotted Rotor Surface

The slotted friction surface is designed for high-performance road applications.

Slots help maintain a clean contact surface between the brake pad and disc while allowing gases, dust and debris to escape from the braking surface, promoting consistent pad-to-disc contact.

CNC-Machined Aluminium Bells

The centre bells are CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminium before being hard anodised for additional surface protection and durability.

Using aluminium for the centre bell also helps reduce unnecessary rotating and unsprung mass compared with an equivalent all-iron construction.

Disc Dimensions

  • Diameter: 350mm
  • Thickness: 34mm

Porsche 996 GT3 / GT2 & 997 GT3 / GT2 Floating Front Brake Discs

Two-piece floating brake discs are an excellent upgrade for high-performance Porsche braking systems where heat management, durability and consistent braking performance are priorities.

The 9M 350x34mm floating front brake disc combines a high-carbon iron friction ring with a lightweight 6061-T6 aluminium bell and 72-vane internal cooling design. This makes it particularly suitable for Porsche GT3, GT3 RS and GT2 models subjected to enthusiastic road driving and repeated high-temperature braking.

For owners searching for Porsche 996 GT3 brake upgrades, 997 GT3 floating front discs or replacement two-piece GT2 brake rotors, the 9M system provides a performance-focused alternative to conventional brake disc construction.

Ever since the disc brake was invented vibration and pulsation caused by thermal expansion has been a major issue giving rise to warped discs - until now?

PFC has released new V3 disc and hat technology. The advanced design features a patented attachment design that uses a retention ring that holds the hat and disc together.

The ring means no need for torque wrenches, and no hassle. The ability to change a disc quickly and efficiently saves time and effort. As well as being convenient, the new V3 technology is much lighter than previous designs, making it easier to put on and pull off, and making the vehicle lighter.

This V3 disc retention method is based on the use of a two-turn retaining ring, which is held in a groove in the hat that overlaps the disc flanges – effectively locking the disc to the hat.

● Exceptional manufacturing standards - Run out less than 0.0254mm, Thickness variation less than 0.00762mm. Surface finishes less than .7 microns. When used in conjunction with Z rated fast road/track day pads, component life and on track performance markedly improved over competitors pads.

About SPORTS Brake Disc

Experience race-inspired stopping power with Porsche sports brake discs from Design911. Designed for performance driving, these upgraded brake rotors provide greater heat dissipation, improved bite, and enhanced fade resistance, ensuring confidence under even the most demanding conditions.

What They Are & What They Do
Sports brake discs (or rotors) are precision-engineered components that work with brake pads to generate friction and stop the car effectively. Unlike standard discs, sports variants are often drilled, grooved, or slotted, helping to vent heat and gases, improve braking response, and maintain consistent performance during high-speed or repeated stops.

Why They Fail
Over time, brake discs wear down from heat cycles, friction, and corrosion. Common signs of failure include scoring, warping, cracking, or vibration during braking. Track use or aggressive driving can accelerate wear, while low-quality discs may develop hotspots and fade under stress.

Why They Should Be Replaced
Replacing worn or damaged brake discs restores optimal braking efficiency, pedal feel, and vehicle control. New sports discs not only improve performance and safety but also extend pad life and reduce fade, ensuring Porsche’s legendary stopping precision. Design911 offers genuine Porsche discs for factory performance and aftermarket upgrades for enhanced durability and responsiveness.
