OE Match Complete Engine Gasket Set with Head Gaskets for Porsche 997 Carrera S 3.8ltr M97.01 (261kW / 355HP)

Carry out a professional engine rebuild with confidence using this OE Match Complete Engine Gasket Set, specifically developed for the Porsche 997 Carrera S 3.8ltr fitted with the M97.01 engine producing 261kW (355HP).

Fits:

  • Porsche 997 MK1 Carrera 2S 3.8L 2005-08
  • Porsche 997 MK1 Carrera 4S 3.8L 2005-08

This comprehensive engine rebuild gasket kit contains the essential seals and gaskets required to completely rebuild the engine, including both cylinder head gaskets, making it the ideal choice for full engine overhauls, cylinder head repairs, engine reconditioning and preventative maintenance.

Manufactured to original equipment specifications, every gasket and seal is engineered to provide precise fitment, outstanding sealing performance and long-lasting durability, ensuring your rebuilt M97 engine delivers reliable performance and factory-quality sealing.

What Does a Complete Engine Gasket Set Do?

A complete engine gasket set contains all the major sealing components required during engine assembly to prevent leaks and maintain correct engine operation.

The gaskets and seals are designed to:

  • Seal the combustion chambers.
  • Maintain correct engine compression.
  • Prevent oil leaks.
  • Prevent coolant leaks.
  • Separate oil and coolant passages.
  • Maintain correct engine operating pressures.
  • Restore factory sealing performance during an engine rebuild.

Replacing every gasket during an engine overhaul helps ensure a reliable, leak-free rebuild that performs as Porsche intended.

Why Replace the Complete Gasket Set?

Once an engine has been dismantled, the original gaskets and seals become compressed and should not be reused. Installing a complete gasket set ensures every sealing surface is renewed to OE standards.

A complete gasket set is recommended for:

  • Complete engine rebuilds.
  • Cylinder head replacement.
  • Engine reconditioning.
  • Oil leak repairs.
  • Coolant leak repairs.
  • High-mileage engine refurbishment.
  • Preventative maintenance.
  • Performance engine builds.

Replacing only selected gaskets increases the risk of future leaks and can lead to additional labour costs later.

Why Do Engine Gaskets Fail?

Engine gaskets are subjected to continuous heat, pressure and thermal expansion throughout their service life.

Common causes of gasket deterioration include:

  • Heat ageing.
  • High mileage.
  • Thermal cycling.
  • Engine overheating.
  • Oil contamination.
  • Coolant contamination.
  • Incorrect installation.
  • Material fatigue over time.

Replacing all gaskets during an engine rebuild restores sealing integrity and helps maximise engine longevity.

When Should a Complete Gasket Set Be Installed?

A complete engine gasket set should always be installed whenever:

  • Carrying out a complete engine rebuild.
  • Replacing cylinder head gaskets.
  • Removing the cylinder heads.
  • Reconditioning the engine.
  • Repairing major oil leaks.
  • Repairing coolant leaks.
  • Performing preventative maintenance.
  • Completing a professional engine overhaul.

Renewing every gasket during assembly helps prevent future leaks, reduces repeat labour and ensures a professional-quality rebuild.

OE Match Quality You Can Trust

This OE Match Complete Engine Gasket Set offers:

  • Complete engine rebuild gasket kit.
  • Includes both cylinder head gaskets.
  • Manufactured to OE specifications.
  • Premium sealing materials.
  • Excellent resistance to heat, oil and coolant.
  • Precision-engineered fitment.
  • Direct replacement components.
  • Ideal for professional engine rebuilding.
  • Long service life and dependable reliability.

Product Information
Product Information
Hylomar Gasket 3400 is a modified anaerobic curing, flexible sealant designed to become a Formed in Place (FIP) Gasket when cured. The cured compound has good temperature resistance and high resistance to fretting. The cure is initiated when the compound is in contact with metal ions and in anaerobic conditions. The cure rate and final strength is dependent on the metals being joined and the temperature at which the component is used. The heat generated by a running engine will accelerate the cure.

Typical Applications
Hylomar Gasket 3400 can be used as a gasketing compound between machined surfaces. It is ideal for sealing between mating faces on engines and transmission components where resistance to temperature and vibration are essential.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Hylomar Gasket 3400 should be applied to clean and dry surfaces, free of contamination such as oil or grease. The compound may be dispensed by hand from cartridge, concertina pack, or via a screen printing system. Once applied the joint should be assembled as soon as practical. Any excess compound can be easily wiped off external surfaces with a clean cloth soaked in Acetone or other suitable solvents.

About Gaskets & Sets

Engine Gaskets & Gasket Sets – Precision Sealing for Porsche Engines

Engine gaskets are vital components that ensure your Porsche’s engine operates efficiently and leak-free. Positioned between key engine surfaces such as the cylinder head, intake manifold, and oil pan, gaskets maintain a perfect seal against high temperatures, pressures, and fluids.

At Design911, we offer a comprehensive range of engine gaskets, seals, and complete gasket kits for Porsche models of every generation. Each gasket is crafted from high-quality composite, metal, or elastomer materials to withstand the extreme conditions of high-performance engines — ensuring optimal sealing, reduced oil and coolant leaks, and consistent compression.

Whether you’re rebuilding a classic 911 flat-six or servicing a modern turbocharged Porsche engine, our manufacturer-quality gaskets and complete kits guarantee reliability, performance, and peace of mind.

What Do Engine Gaskets and Gasket Sets Do?

Gaskets play a critical role in ensuring that various engine systems — combustion, lubrication, and cooling — remain properly sealed.

Core Functions:

  • Prevent leaks of oil, coolant, air, and combustion gases.
  • Maintain compression between the engine block and cylinder head.
  • Ensure efficient combustion and proper engine pressure balance.
  • Protect internal components from cross-contamination of fluids.

A properly sealed engine not only improves performance and efficiency but also prevents costly long-term damage.

Why Do Gaskets Fail?

Despite their durability, gaskets naturally degrade over time due to extreme heat cycles, pressure variations, and material fatigue.

Common Causes of Gasket Failure Include:

  • Overheating, causing warping or breakdown of the gasket material.
  • Improper installation or torqueing during assembly.
  • Aging materials that harden or crack with use.
  • Chemical degradation from oil or coolant exposure.
  • Uneven pressure or engine vibration, leading to micro-leaks.

Typical symptoms of gasket failure include oil or coolant leaks, reduced compression, overheating, or visible residue at gasket joints.

Why Replace with Precision-Engineered Gaskets and Kits?

Replacing worn or leaking gaskets is essential to maintain proper engine compression, prevent contamination, and restore overall reliability. Our direct-fit gasket sets and kits are designed to meet or exceed Porsche engineering standards, providing complete sealing solutions for rebuilds and maintenance.

Key Benefits:

  • Restores proper sealing and compression integrity.
  • Prevents oil and coolant leaks for cleaner performance.
  • Enhances efficiency and reliability under load.
  • Manufactured from high-grade, heat- and pressure-resistant materials.
  • Available as individual gaskets or complete kits for full rebuilds.
  • Direct-fit compatibility for a wide range of Porsche models.

Our gasket sets are ideal for engine rebuilds, overhauls, and preventive maintenance, ensuring long-term dependability and peak performance.
