This OE MATCH front lower ball joint is designed to withstand substantial cornering forces, braking loads and road impacts while maintaining precise suspension geometry and handling characteristics.

What This Product Does:
  • Connects the front lower control arm to the steering knuckle.
  • Allows controlled articulation of the suspension and steering systems.
  • Maintains correct suspension geometry and wheel alignment.
  • Supports precise steering response and handling performance.
  • Helps absorb road forces transmitted through the suspension.
  • Contributes to vehicle stability, safety and ride quality.

Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
  • Clunking, knocking or rattling noises from the front suspension.
  • Excessive play in the steering.
  • Wandering or unstable vehicle handling.
  • Uneven or accelerated tyre wear.
  • Steering wheel vibration or shimmy.
  • Difficulty maintaining wheel alignment.
  • Visible damage or splitting of the protective dust boot.
  • Excessive movement detected during suspension inspection.
  • Reduced steering precision and responsiveness.

Why Replacement Matters:

  • Front lower ball joints are subjected to constant suspension movement, steering inputs, road impacts and environmental exposure. Over time, internal bearing surfaces can wear and protective dust boots may deteriorate, allowing dirt and moisture to enter the joint and accelerate wear.
  • A worn ball joint can negatively affect steering accuracy, suspension performance and tyre wear. As wear increases, vehicle handling may become less predictable and overall safety can be compromised. In severe cases, complete ball joint failure can result in loss of wheel control and significant suspension damage.
  • Replacing a worn front lower ball joint restores steering precision, maintains correct suspension geometry and helps ensure safe vehicle operation.

Lateral support clamp anti roll bar.

powerflex

Anti-Roll Bars (ARB’s) play an important role in a vehicle’s suspension system, helping to reduce body roll by transferring cornering load from one side of a vehicle to the other.

Often mounted to the vehicle’s chassis with rubber bushes, these bushes ensure the bar works as intended. To prevent the anti-roll bar from moving laterally within its mounts when turning, OE manufacturers will either bond the bushes to the bar, add dead-stops to the bar itself, or rely solely on the clamping pressure of the rubber.

But what happens when those bushes wear and need to be replaced? Often anti-roll bars with bonded bushes come as a costly complete assembly, so the alternative is to fit a more cost-effective unbonded polyurethane replacement, like the many we offer.

In most cases, friction from the bush will prevent any side-to-side bar movement. Still, when turning aggressively or cornering at higher speeds, a laterally shifting anti-roll bar decreases the efficiency and effectiveness of the bar, changing the dynamics of your suspension system in unpredictable ways. It also poses the risk of the bar fouling on other areas of the vehicle or suspension system.

The rear air springs are a critical part of the Cayenne's adaptive air suspension system, maintaining the correct ride height, supporting vehicle load and ensuring optimum comfort across all driving conditions. Whether you're cruising on the motorway, towing a trailer or enjoying spirited driving, properly functioning rear air springs help keep your Porsche stable, level and responsive.

Manufactured using high-quality rubber air bladders, precision-engineered end caps and corrosion-resistant components, the Arnott Rear Air Spring is built to withstand the demanding conditions experienced by modern SUVs while providing long service life and exceptional ride quality.

What Does the Rear Air Spring Do?

The rear air spring replaces conventional steel suspension springs with a pressurised air chamber. Working alongside the vehicle's compressor, ride height sensors and electronic suspension control system, it:

  • Maintains the correct rear ride height.
  • Automatically compensates for varying passenger and luggage loads.
  • Improves ride comfort by absorbing road imperfections.
  • Enhances handling and vehicle stability.
  • Supports Porsche's adjustable ride height and driving modes.
  • Helps maintain correct suspension geometry for improved tyre wear.

Why Do Rear Air Springs Fail?

Over time, air springs are subjected to continuous movement, pressure changes and environmental exposure. Common causes of failure include:

  • Age-related cracking or splitting of the rubber air bladder.
  • Moisture and road salt causing corrosion of mounting components.
  • Internal wear from repeated inflation and deflation cycles.
  • Damage from road debris.
  • Air leaks developing around seals or fittings.
  • Excessive compressor operation caused by small leaks accelerating wear.

As the vehicle ages, replacing worn air springs before complete failure can also help prevent damage to the air suspension compressor.

Symptoms of a Failing Rear Air Spring

Common signs include:

  • Rear suspension sitting lower than normal.
  • One side of the vehicle leaning.
  • Suspension warning messages.
  • Vehicle dropping overnight when parked.
  • Compressor running more frequently or for extended periods.
  • Harsh or unstable ride quality.
  • Difficulty maintaining selected ride height.

If any of these symptoms are present, the rear air spring should be inspected promptly to avoid further damage to the air suspension system.

When Should the Rear Air Spring Be Replaced?

Replacement is recommended when:

  • Air leaks are detected.
  • The rubber bellows show visible cracking or deterioration.
  • Ride height becomes inconsistent.
  • Suspension fault codes indicate air spring leakage.
  • The compressor is overworking due to pressure loss.
  • During major air suspension refurbishment on higher mileage vehicles.

Replacing ageing air springs proactively can significantly reduce the risk of compressor failure and costly future repairs.

Arnott has become one of the world's leading manufacturers of premium aftermarket air suspension components, trusted by professional workshops and Porsche specialists alike.

Benefits include:

  • Direct OE replacement design.
  • Premium-quality rubber air bladder.
  • Corrosion-resistant construction.

About Suspension & Axle

Porsche Suspension & Axle Parts

Porsche suspension systems are engineered with precision to deliver sharp handling, ride comfort, and maximum performance. Whether on the road or track, your Porsche relies on a finely tuned suspension and axle setup to keep you in control. When components wear out, the ride becomes rough, handling suffers, and safety can be compromised.

At Design911, we supply a full range of suspension and axle parts for classic and modern Porsche models — from shock absorbers and coil springs to control arms and ball joints - helping you maintain your car’s legendary driving dynamics.

Signs of Worn Shocks or Struts

Shock absorbers and struts are essential for keeping your Porsche stable over bumps and through corners. Some signs they may need replacement include:

  • Excessive Bouncing – car continues to bounce after hitting bumps
  • Poor Cornering Stability – leaning hard into corners, reduced grip
  • Fluid Leaks – damp or oily patches on shocks/struts
  • Uneven Tyre Wear – poor damping leads to increased tyre wear

If left unchecked, worn shocks or struts not only reduce ride comfort but can also compromise safety.

 Common Porsche Suspension Issues

Different Porsche models can face specific suspension-related faults. The most frequent include:

  • Lower Track Control Arm Bushings - Failure causes squeaking noises, uneven tyre wear, and eventually knocking sounds over rough roads.
  • Broken Coil Springs - Seen in models such as the Porsche Boxster. Symptoms include groaning noises when steering and clicking or knocking over bumpy surfaces.
  • Leaking or Worn Shock Absorbers - Identified by damp, oily residue on the shock body. This is one of the most common suspension failures over time.
  • Ball Joint Wear - Worn joints reduce steering precision and can lead to loss of control if ignored.

Fortunately, most of these issues can be resolved by simply replacing the affected parts with OEM or high-quality aftermarket components.

Why Maintain Suspension & Axle Components?

  • Performance – ensure your Porsche handles as designed, with precise cornering and stability
  • Comfort – smoother ride by absorbing bumps and vibrations
